in this model booster fitting is not possible due to lack of space. only the sb308 model can take a booster.

btw booster doesn't improve the braking of the car, just reduces the effort you have to apply, which anyways isn't much in the 800. personally i prefer non assisted brakes since they are easier to modulate and in an emergency you can prevent a lockup.

if your brakes are ineffective , the reason could be something else which is unlikely to get solved with the addition of the booster.

one possible problem that is common is rear slave cylinders seizing. in time it happens with every 800. you wont notice it much ,but the brakes will gradually lose their effectiveness.
you can check it by lifting one rear wheel at a time asking someone to brake while you turn the wheel by hand. if you can turn the wheel , you have your problem.
best of luck

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

SS80DX was supposed to be a luxury car in the mid eighties. While the standard model had several years waiting period,DX models were available in 2-3 months provided you paid in Foreign exchange.Remember my neighbour who was working in Libya at that time buying one for 8000 dollars or so in 1985

Not true. In fact I purchased three DX in December '85 for my company on direct payment in Rupees with no premium.. Air-con was not really felt as important useful feature justifying double (almost) price by people. AFAIK the M800 basic was at Rs50,000 at that time.

Also being month of December perhaps no one wanted air-con car in Delhi's cold climate.

I think there was a separate booking channel for the NRIs with ForEx payment that had priority delivery though I'm not sure when it was introduced.

Do you remember the price of DX when you bought? I've heard 45k and 75k as the prices for Std and DX around that time.

AC was a luxury till the turn of the century in most places other than the metros since the vehicle density was not huge and you could get clean and cool air with windows lowered. During my school days, my dad rarely used the AC in our Zen, except during afternoons. Initially, we used to use a cloth to wipe the inside of the front windscreen during rains - till one of his colleagues told us that the AC can be used for that purpose. I used to be the designated 'defogger' in our trips and that gave me the right to the front passenger seat. Once the AC replaced me, I was relegated to the back seat.

You are talking about December 1985 the SS80 production was stopped by May 1986 or so.The NRI scheme was definitely there in 1984 -1985 period. The on road price of standard maruti 800 in December 1984 was Rs.54000/- in Trivandrum. The on road price of DX version was Rs.92000/ - or so.
Suresh kishore has posted the INVOICE of a standard maruti 800 in this thread already.
By 1986 beginning those people who had booked for the car preferred to wait and have the new model rather than the SS80

Saw this Thiruvananthapuram based clean SS80 yesterday. It was difficult for me to take my eyes off it.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

A couple of SS80s I've recently come across- the red one is parked in our colony itself and I see it regularly on my evening walks. Unfortunately buggered up with all those cheapo add-ons!

The blue one seems far more original but in need of much TLC!

I could be wrong but they must've just raised the ride height or added a spring or two.
