Wow, Mr. Harpal Singh's SS80 was DIA 6479 and this is even earlier.

So, I am assuming this is one of the few cars Maruti brought down for marketing purposes and then liquidated some time later.
Whoever has it in his possession, has one rare car to be proud of.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

Here is my contribution to this thread This white 1984 ss80 here made an appearance at DCCF(Dadar Classic Car Fiesta), Mumbai in December 2017. The car belongs to a well known car collector's family. However, I am not sure if it's a DX. The badging is all incorrect I think. Overall condition of the car was quite good, except for a little bit of rust in a few small areas. The interiors of the car were very clean and the seats retained the original upholstry.

The Maruti Suzuki and 800 rear monograms for ss80 were black with silver fonts if I am not wrong.

Ah, brought back memories of the awesome time spent with this beauty during 1985-2004. Here's an old snap of the car taken at Cochin with a friend (me on left) in 1998. Parked alongside two iconic cars of the time.

Pardon the poor quality as it was scanned from a paper photo.

This looks like a standard model and doesn't seem to be a pristine example from the external appearance. The monograms are not original,as well as the headlamps and the parking lights

It rather looks like the later generation, the SB308 as the bonnet appears sloping, window sills are lower and windows are larger.

+1 to that. Also notice the positioning of indicator hole on the fender, and the rear quarter glass section. Its most likely a post 1997 SB308.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

This particular ss80 is a 1985 Maruti 800 Standard model. I have known this car since my childhood as the car belongs to a known person. He has owned this car since 1985 and used it as his daily runner till 2016, until he bought a new car as it was finally time for this old fellow to take some rest. This ss80 was then neglected for a few months but was brought back to life in January of this year!! The car is rusty, slightly worn out and requires work, but the owner is himself a mechanic by profession and is working on the car to get it up and about again
This is one very original ss80! It still wears its original 'New Zealand Brown colour' paint, it has all Japanese parts including Tokai Denso lights, although one is broken. Till recently, it even had the Chrome Hub caps and Maruti Suzuki and 800 badges which the owner has removed and carefully kept away. He'll put them back on after the work is complete. These images are from January of this year, I went for a small spin in the car and man did I enjoy it!!

Notice those silver strips on the boot, which often came off, are still intact here.

The interiors have held on very well and might I add what a powerful blower this car has! Notice that seat covers have been added to protect the original upholstery from getting worn out. It even has the original horn and Suzuki Panel where one could plonk in an audio system!!

The owner has safely kept these relics such as an Owner's manual and a brochure which has safely kept at home.

The engine bay is quite worn out and tired. It needs a nice cleanup job and a repaint maybe, which it is going to receive very soon!

Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX-img_2782.jpg
The OK sticker stamp that every ss80 got when it left the factory back in the day!

Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX-ss80-key.jpg
The Key. I'm not sure if it's the original key though. I think the original key said SUZUKI .

Here's a bonus point! This is an classy black and white image of the same car parked in the building's compound in 1990!

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

Guy's I need to help my uncle restore his SS80. Some things that need to be replaced immediately are the Silencer and Carburetor. I'm sure something is wrong with the clutch too as it's travel is almost non-existent but that can be changed later.

My question, is the SS80 similar in parts to the 2nd Generation 800 and are parts easily available in the market.

Also is there any good online retailer from where I can source all these parts in India ? If available please let me know. Thanks.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

Most of the parts are available at MASS. Silencer has to be bought after market. ( There is shop in Kochi selling silencer and other parts). Carburettor can be purchased at MASS or from outside.
Only the body parts and other stuff like rear shox are not available at MASS.

Thanks for the info. Can you please let me know the name of the shop in Kochi.

I think the silencer in the SS80 and the later 800's were same. If that's the case, MASS should be having the original silence for the 2014 800's right.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

The silencer in SS 80 and later models are different. The name of shop in Kochi is Masters Automobiles, 91 484 2534858.

I am sorry to say that the info provided by you is not correct. No MASS outlets have any SS80 specific parts available. Even the original ignition point and condenser for the original ND distributor is not available. The suspension bushes, front struts etc are not available since a long time. What they do is 'suit' the SB308 parts for the SS80.Some mechanical parts are same as that of SB308 and that is available at MASS.
Carburretor of SS80 is Mikuni, SB308 had MIKUNI and later UCAL carbs.
I don't think SS80 carburrertor is available at MASS in Kerala
I understand that the red car is at MARTHANDAM, You need not go so far as Cochin to get aftermarket parts there is a shop called Swaraj in Trivandrum
PM me if you want any further info.
