AGREE, I own a 1996 Maruti 800 and take it to MASS for every alternate service. Results are to my satisfaction. And yes, SS80 is becoming a rage, I am planning to buy one and restore it to my satisfaction. Waiting for Vitamin M though

Jai3033, thats a very nice car you have posted. Like you rightly mentioned, it is in showroom condition. Hats off to the owner for taking care of the car so nicely.

In reality it is not the case, atleast for the ss80. Not all spares are available even at MASS :(. NOS Spares for the ss80 are hard to come by. Lot of reproduction parts are available though.

In fact most of the so-called MASS nearly chase you out of their premises if you take such an old model as the SS80 there for any work! They state bluntly that parts are difficult to find for this model and takes them longer to finish working on...! They don't see these cars the same way as most of us do.

BTW, I badly need the chrome-ish roof gutter side-trims

Anyone who couldd help me out??

not really, have always got my SS80 serviced from MASS for the last 25 years... no issues about parts.....
however yes the newer MASS/ COCOs dont stock parts for the SS80 or have the inclination to service/ repair it... old MASS are otherwise excited to see the old SS80 and attend to....

That's surprising! The original owner if my car always got the car serviced at regular intervals like any new car at popular automobiles, till the day he sold it to me. He even gave me a ton of receipts of all the work which was done to the car over a loong period of time.

I've taken the car to MASS here,a dn they were really exited to see an ss80 is such condition.

Another incident was when i took the car to Sai service, a maruti dealer here, with a friend for checking out a new car, and when i returned outside, i found a crowd of showroom guys around the car, checking it out. some of them knew a lot about the car, whereas, it was the first time that many sat inside the car!! Some wanted to know whether i wanted to exchange it for a new car, and offered it to buy it off from me then and there! heh heh!!

Hey!! just noticed that this thread has been shifted to the vintage and classic section. So i guess the SS80 is finally being accepted into the 'classic' circle!!

Would anyone be interested in buying a single owner Maruti 800, what was refered to as the new model or the second generation bodystyle.

Its a biscuit color car with my uncle in Bangalore. No crashes and spairingly used in pretty good / original shape. It would be one of the cars that still had a lot of Japanese content.

If interested do let me know. Car is regestered CAY 939.

when I started this thread in 2007 I had started it in the vintage and classic section. There was a lot of hard talk and criticism for having started it in that section and after 2 months it was moved out of the section to oblivion in the INDIAN CAR SCENE section .Anyway I am happy that teambhpians have finally decided the correct place of the SS80.

it seems to be the same blue car in this thread with alloy wheels and balloon radials. but the adoption cost is way too low at just Rs100000/-

Talking of costs, can anyone here give me a vague idea as to how much one should expect to pay for a fair condition SS80 ?
Fair meaning not too rusted, with a decent bodyline (read restorable), and an engine that will not require major work.
Reason: someone i know has one in white, and may be looking at selling, I need to know how much I sould offer - even a price range would do.

Pick it up cheap. Under 40k should be a good price range. If you can go lower, even better.
