Noticed that amongst those mentioned in the body colors list only Red- St Germains Red, and the White-Francois White were given in India. Remaining are all Mettalic Colors. Must be a Case of Cut and Paste from the Suzuki Parts Catalog.

Also Koito Head Lamps, along with stanley were OE. Part # below.

Even the AM Radio mentioned in the catalog.

Actually I got I from M/S Popular Vehicles-Trivandrum. (One of the first MUL Dealers). I had asked for the copy, since they were disposing off obsolete items the Works Manager agreed to give me the original itself.

Kudos to Jayakrishnan(Jai3033) and the other Chennai SS80 enthusiasts for their efforts in forming a Club for this Classic.
Maruti 800 is major Milestone in Indian Automotive History.
Unfortunately Economics went ahead of sentiments in laying the M800 to rest.
RIP.

But anyways, its a real good thing to form a club for the SS80! The cars indeed are getting rare, especially good ones.

M800 may have been a milestone model but I've found the SS80 to be the only decent vehicle, as far as quality goes, and best in looks ever launched by MUL.

The article mentions that Chennai would have at max. 60 Nos. SS80 cars, of which 1 would be our (erstwhile) TSF-2252. It is 5 years since we sold that and I have still not stopped regretting that decision. Seen it only once after that on Sterling Road.

Oh yes. Without a doubt. We bought another M800 in 1999, but it is no patch on the original in terms of quality & build.

ss80 was a far superior (design and qualitywise) than what was available in the market at that time.

looks like in the south the ss80 is very rare. just like fiat contis , sierras, and generally all vintage and classic cars are rare here in delhi. but delhi still has plenty of ss80's left going for nothing. and i guess they are being scrapped fast cuz no 1 buys them. but plenty are available for grabs. all you need is 20k

No no, I wasnt comparing it with what was available in the market then, it was with what was available from MUL after the SS80!
