Thanks friends. I managed to take couple of snaps. The owner has purchased a new car and want to sell this one.
Your inputs are required by me. It is a Standard car. The head lamps are Stanley and the tail lamps are original.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

According to me this is a good car and can be dealt without any hesitation. I can see this was well maintained by the prev owner and sure will keep any SS80 owner happy. People interested please go ahead! don't let this go to someone who doesn't care about it except for a car coming cheap or for learning driving purpose.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

Stumbled on a SS80 ad in Malaysia while browsing. Thought it fits in, in this thread rather than the ad thread. So posting.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

I managed to get some more pics. Regret poor quality attributable to mob-cam.
The distributor is Nippon Denso, the radiator cap shows some Japanese characters aside English ones. The original jack. Key is original.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

I feel the green car has the right one, 800 written in BIG LETTERS and the DX car had 800 DX written in same font.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

There is an ad for sale of a 1984 std car with an asking rate of Rs75K in today's Malayalam daily Manorama. I contacted and was told by the owner that he has recently spent Rs 40K and is in fine nick and that he bought it new. contact number in the ad is 9447104012. It appears that 75K is a bit on the higher side.

Mods, I am posting it for any interested TBhpian being a much sought after car these days and there is absolutely no commercial intent. If it is a violation please delete.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

According to my personal experience, buying a car for Rs 75k that has already had all the work done is much wiser than buying an "original" car for Rs 50k. Agreed that you won’t get all the originality with the 75k car but it will definitely give less problems than the "original" one.

Let’s not forget, these cars (SS80) are over 25 old years now. Even if one uses it very less, still it'll keep on giving some issue or the other unless you buy a very well-maintained genuine SS80 which is super-exotic these days.

Also, restoring any car with work like painting/denting can set you back for around 15k easily. If you’re also getting Rust removal, engine work etc done, be ready for a bill of 30k or even more.
I've spent a similar amount restoring my SS80. It was a learning experience for me but the end result definitely does bring a wide smile on my face and loads of compliments wherever I take my car.
That’s my take on buying a 75k worth SS80, replies, comments welcome

He is the 3rd or 4th owner. There is not much originality in it.
That car has not much value.similar standard cars are sold in used car showrooms at the range of Rs.30000/- to Rs.40000/-
2 weeks back a single owner ninety percent original car(discussed here also) was sold for Rs.45000/- from trivandrum

A very nice car indeed! 'hope the price is just as nice!

Good Luck!

I do remember the SS80 did come in this colour too, I even often saw one here a few years ago. Although it could have as well been a repaint job like this one. But it looks like a few of them did, maybe the last of them and the SB308 was launched thereafter so the colour continued longer on them instead.

Supposed to have MARUTI and 800. The MARUTI badge comes right above the 800 one, and in this case, is missing.
PS: The Maruti sticker in Hindi and the emblem logo on the rear are add-ons. SS80s never had either, just the Maruti-Suzuki badge on the left.

This is repainted to this green colour. The present guy bought it 12 years ago in chocolate colour and almost after four years changed the colour.
