I actually like it the way it is but I'm always open to suggestions ! By lacking originality, I guess you mean the colour, side blinkers, radial tyres, wheel covers, car antennae....anything else ?

Impressive.......

Actually is a nicely maintained car!

I think is all about was best you do that you like. A restoration job can get diverted towards betterment of the car ;-)

Few changes are unavoidable due to lack for availability & greed for enhancement.

I like the car, gook going kannan.

Kannan666, it is because when I see the car my camera is not with me.
And when I have my camera the car does not come out.
When I have the camera and see the car will post photos here.

Some t-bhpians know that I was looking for a SS80 DX for a long time. After looking at several SS80s(only one other was DX), I have finally found what I was looking for - A red SS80 DX with some originality and little work .

The clarion music system had earlier been replaced with a Single-din player :-( and recently with an interesting Double-Din TV come Audio System...LOL.

I must say that this is one of my quickest acquistions ever. I saw her on my way to work, I was awestruck since she was gleaming in red and chrome (window and roof trims). I overtook the car and flagged down the owner, congratulated him on a very lovely car. He was not in a mood to sell, so we exchanged numbers and I drove on to work with my mind filled with thoughts about this beauty. I got a call from him the next day saying he wanted to sell. We met in the next few mins, a test-drive by our friend Pavan_Kadam, a run-through of this thread and the check-list by Ajay99, several conversations with Pavan_Kadam and JayD later, I was the proud owner of this 1985 SS80 DX. I would like to thank the above-mentioned t-bhpians for their help in the decision making and also their ongoing support.

Also, I picked it up one day before travelling to Melbourne, so can't wait to get back to drive around in it. This is how the car looked when I bought. I did not like the wheels in pic below one bit, so somehow managed to escape my family a few hours before my flight and changed to the Aura ones in good condition (4 used & 1 unused wheel).

So SS80 fans, am looking forward to your views. Thanks in advance.

Congrats S@~+#0$# ! Thats a good looking SS80. The car looks really nice with those Aura alloys, its good that you changed them. The bodyline also seems to be clean. Though the door pads and seats have been changed the carpet seems to be original (Correct me Ajay if Iam wrong). BTW how much did you acquire it for?
