Weekend escapade

Met with a friend over the weekend and here is one of his priced possession. Genuine car with the original paint, apart from one panel.

She has a remote lock system including the tail gate glass opening, at a press of a button All OE equipment including, Stereo and Head Lamps are working.

ps: The missing front emblem is inside the house.

Dear Ajay99,

Just noticed that the car didnt have beige carpets/A/C control knob/seatbelts.
But surely the Clock and Tape/AM is OE.
Is it a DX?
The glass some how does not appear to be tinted in the photo.

Strange isnt it!

Nevertheless a well maintained car.

Beige carpets!! where did this come from? I dont think it ever came with the Dx cars from factory if my memory serves me right? Same with leather seats, am pretty sure they never came as factory OE.

Glass is tinted am sure, just look through the front windshield towards the driver side window and you will see the tint very clearly. Temp control is there sitting well integrated with the blower switch.

ajay,suresh,Jaggu,
I think I know this car.
It is a KBT regd car with number 7xxx.have seen in it in a house near kuravankkonam in thiruvananthapuram.
Itoriginally belonged to someone from ernakulam or so.
It doesnt have the OE beige leather seats, beige fur carpet, Seat belts.
My guess is that it is an air conditioned/TG car with an OE clarion stereo, and clock retrofitted.
It is now with the 2nd or 3rd owner IMHO

Jaggu, In the photo of the car you had posted the A/C knob wasnt clearly visible. Thanks for clearing that doubt.

I was just wondering whether your friends car was a SS80 A/C TG as pointed out by classico.
But the anomaly in that case is that the OE clarion radio and OE Digital clock should not have been in the car(unless they were after-market accessories).

Yup the car used to be in Kuravankonam originally from Jawahar Nagar originally owned by an old lady till 2007, right now owned by my friend who is the second owner. I dont think its a semi deluxe since it has tinted glass also.

Again let me clarify that the beige mat and leather seats are NOT company fitment, these are most likely fitted as a dealer accessory/upgrade option. Reason why am being so sure is coz i knew of 2 such Dx car at close proximity when it was launched in 1984.

EDIT: Look at the leather seat cover fitment, it definitely didnt come from factory like that!

Jaggu Sir, Thats news for me! and as well for most other ss80 Fanatics on this thread.LOL

Pardon me for being a bit sarcastic.

As for the leather seat "cover" yeah the fitment wasnt really that good, what the heck it lasted for 25 years !
