Sharp eyes you got sureshkishore. It indeed seems the rear tail light assembly part. If it had been front indicator lens it would have got 2 screw mount holes on its side.

Oh man! Right you are, suresh! Geez, it slipped my mind totally!

Yes, its the broken piece from one of the tail-lamps- they did tell me one was broken. The other was intact, wanted to take it but was told the owner wanted to retain them!

coming to the point of sale and resale. i was just pondering what would be the just worth of the cars of 1984-85 make. Like what would the car of a 1984 or 1985 both standard and Dx models worth be. Two cars which i had a very keen tab of, changed hands very recently. Both were Standard models one was a Doctor driven car and another belonged to Lecturer. I came to know that both were sold not more than Rs.20,000/- each. Is it all woth? or any value could be attached for its age antiquity? please give inputs with regard to any new change of hands/sale of the cars and its sale price.

regarding the quoted prices of ss80 marutis,it can vary from Rs.15000/- to 100000/-.being a 25plus car,the mechanical and body condition and the originality aspect will be the criterion for the pricing.
Moreover DX cars are sought after because of its rarity vis a vis standard models.
Also a fully original less run single owner car with all the original documents like INVOICE,owners manual, service manual,a/c manual and original keys, etc will command a premium

Stalled almost for 18 days! But have some updates from the last week's works. Incidentally I had hurt my leg with quite a deep wound, while video graphing the hill climb event at Nandi Hills (Bangalore) last month on 23rd to 25th. Developing a strong interest into rallying!!! So was day/night dreaming on how to get into the sport!

So for the update. Engine went in under the hood, doors harnessed on to the pillars. Steering, cabling mechanicals like, clutch, throttle, choke, hood release, hand-brake fixed.

The pending jobs are, the radiator, electrical wiring, fluid Brake system finalization, few accessories pending due to damaged/lost fasteners. Another 3-5 days to go to fire the engine for a quick test run, probably delivering it to the owner (friend), so the interiors are taken care to his tastes.

Few pics of the current update

Nice SS80 spotted

Nice SS80 Standard Spotted in trivandrum. Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX-image057.jpg
The car is a 86 Std in NewZealand Brown. Single septuagenarian owner!
One Stubborn chap who isn't willing to part with it!

Excellent example with a blemish free body.

Except for the missing rear monograms very original.

Sorry just the rear view. Just was allowed to click one photo.

Update on my ss80

Managed to get a used original sealed beam for my dear brown beauty.

Dude you are doing a fabulous job. One question, in one of the pictures I see the engine is not painted. Are you not dressing up the engine also.??

Stumbled upon a Small Treasure!

Dear Friends,

Managed to get hold of the Original Parts catalog of the SS80. It seems to be completely intact.

Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX-dsc03052.jpg

Noticed that amongst those mentioned in the body colors list only Red- St Germains Red, and the White-Francois White were given in India. Remaining are all Mettalic Colors. Must be a Case of Cut and Paste from the Suzuki Parts Catalog.
Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX-dsc03051.jpg

Also Koito Head Lamps, along with stanley were OE. Part # below.
Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX-dsc03053.jpg

Even the AM Radio mentioned in the catalog.
