Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

well, mycarhasablower was supposed to report his find here!

We're waiting!

A team in college were working on a competitor to the Nano for Peugeot and discovered in their research phase that Mr.Singh, the owner of a piece of Indian Motoring history was offered the first Nano too, he gracefully declined!

Anyone know that for a fact?

very nice job, well done. Car looks really good in black color. why don't you go for some alloys instead of wheel caps. It will really give a good image. congrats again.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

@procircuit, Nice work on your car!

The black color accentuates the excellent body line of your car. Have you done up the interiors too?

If possible post more pics.

yes.. have'nt noticed your car.. very well maintained.. congrats. Is the car still with you?

guys.. need some inputs. its summer. and my car is a standard one. feeling very uncomfortable to drive in summer. some thought crossed my mind to go for a A/c unit. Had a talk with my trusted garage guy who suggested me to look for a used A/c unit. He told to look for TYPE-1 A/c unit which fits the model. Please suggest if to go or not to go for a A/c unit in the car. Models available, new or old one which can be fitted with minimum or no alterations.

Hi, it was having 5077 compressor which chilled you even in sweltering heat of 40 degrees, Original DX model in SS80 had this package and was super success after, this to reduce cost and load on engine Maruti went for smaller compressor.
You get second hand 5077 for 3000/- in a good condition and select the one with best pumping , this can be checked by your AC Mechanic,
In short complete kit of AC for your car must not cost you more then 8500/- in mumbai chor bazar.with some of the parts brand new.
I have chor bazar guy number I will inform about it if you can come down to mumbai for the purchase,Regards...........

Yes, I still have it, check it out by viewing my garage ! I too got the A/C fixed in my SS, but don't recall what unit my garage used, it was way back in 2000 though and I've had absolutely no problem with the unit although I do not use the car much nowadays since the fitness certificate has expired.

.
Yes the SS80 had a SD507 Sanden Compressor (a 5 piston 70cc compressor) The Same that has been used rampantly by A/C retro fitters for decades. It is still available new in the R134 format. Should cost 15-16k for a new installation.
But if you try you can get one from the scrap dealer for a fraction.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

I'm really interested in purchasing a SS80 and I have two questions:

1) What are the SS80's dimensions (width, height, length)?

2) How much would an SS80 in running condition (ie good mechanical condition) cost (Chennai)?
I don't mind dents and dings or lack of AC (although AC preferred) as I can spend some more and get these sorted out later on.

Cheers!
