I have used 165/60 R12 on my 800. No issues with turns.

Here is a thread that I consider one of the best 800 rebuilds on tbhp - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...i-800-a-3.html . This car uses 13 inch wheels.

Here is the gallery - 1985 Suzuki 800 Hatch - Edmund's BHP Garage - Team-BHP

Another thing - if your rear wheel arch has been involved in a scrap and refinished or damaged - chances are that the 165s will foul with the rear wheel arch when the car bottoms out with a loaded rear. I had to grind off the inside of the rear arch of my 800 to fix this problem.

Drive on,
Shibu

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

My love for SS80s began in early 1990s when i first drove a blue coloured beauty of my girl friend.Since then i never looked back on owning this japanese car.
When i acquired the current SS80 on Christmas day, little i knew that this would turn out to be a pocket wonder.
So ther restoration plans were drawn up in a day and my mechanic set up a drawing board to list out all the technical and mechanical work to be done.Thank god,my mechanic is an ace !!!
In the next 10 days,we performed the mechanical work comprising of:
- Complete Engine Overhaul
- Gear box setting
- Repair of rear suspension
- Repair and replacement of cooling system
- Clutch,Brakes setting
- Repair of wiper motor
- Complete Electrical check up
- New Battery set up
- New plugs

Once the the mechanicals were perfected,it reached my AC mechanic who took 2 days to rip out everything and set right everything.I got the condensor services, blower cleaned and set the timers to minimal temparature.Voila it was blowing the most chilled stuff out at the end of the exercise, enought to send me brrrrrrrrrrrr !!
Next phase was the paint job, which left me in a dilemma to choose between Orange and Yellow. It took 5 days for the complete paint job, waxing and polishing.
Almost now at the last stage,I acquired some good Art leather and went to my "Upholstry Stylist" to do his magic.
After a span of 25 days since i acquired yet,the "Orange Bloom" was ready for a drive and my first task was to put it to a stress test : A 200km drive with 100% AC . Boy o Boy i reached max speed of 120 and was scared a bit,but there was no stopping. In the end all i had a big smile.
I went looking out for some hot alloys, but couldnt find a decent ones. The dealer promised to get a particular one from the catalogue next week..so the story is still to unfold in near future

I shot some pictures this morning just to capture the spirit of this lovely car that im proud of.
Thanks for all your support.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

'happened to find this reasonably tidy SS80 sitting neglected outside a local garage today. This car seems to have been recently brought here, this is the first time I'm seeing it here. I used to pass by this lane everyday a year ago on my way home from work in my office cab, it being close to my previous office in the 'Hi-Tech city' area.

Sorry about the pic. quality, taken with my mobile cam! :(

I guess the garage guys weren't experienced with working on older cars as this so kept it aside.
'hope it is not left here too long!

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

@ Hillram Is the car's dicky area carpet original set up? Why I ask because in mine it is something like this and the hardboard base as in M800 new shape is missing.

The original carpet (even in Dicky area) came in Beige,if Im not mistaken.
My car had this original carpet, but it was in shreds and completly destroyed. What i have is a makeshift one as Im getting stiched a new carpet just like the original one.I shall post pictures of the same soon.

Re: Maruti Suzuki SS80 DX

I do think that the hard board cover for the rear spare tire that came in the SB308's were not there in the ss80.

Just the carpet over the spare wheel, beige in the case of DX(as rightly noted by hillram).

@Hillram. Sir, your car is awesome. Great Choice of color. A nice set of wheel and rubber would make it drop dead gorgeous!
