Don't belittle Maruti's efforts (the grill is from Kizashi concept ??). A Suzuki car has to look like its evolved from a Suzuki. Its the same for all manufacturers.
It looks good and only hope the production version will look similar.

I have to agree with Amit here. The Swift looked like no other Suzuki when it was developed. One would expect the same here as well.

Good job StarScream!

So, Maruti will be coming out with a new car for the A segment in late 2008.

Does this mean..
- Finally 800 will be put to sleep and the Alto will take the 800's place?
- Both 800 & Alto will be phased out and the A-Star will alone be battling with Tata's 1L and others from Hyundai, Bajaj-Renault?
- Alto will live for a few more years and A-Star will be for those who want something more than an Alto and do not have money for say a Swift or an i10?
- The talks of the Cervo coming to India are over?

And picture this.. post 2010.. Tata's 1L will have to battle with two year old used A-stars? It gets tougher and tougher for the 1L!

It looks production ready. Maybe a different bumper, smaller wheels, bigger door RVMs, shorter overhangs.

if indeed production is to begin in Oct 08, its time the final thing is ready.

I think the production version will get 'normal' parts instead of the 'fancy' stuff on this car. That could be the change!

Infractions: 0/1 (10)

put 12"/13" steel wheels inplace of the low pro tires.i dont think the exhaust integrated in the bumper will make it to production.remove the projector setup and fancy lighting.the real car might not look as good as this.

The car looks great!!! But I don't think the production model for A segment would be so fancy. Hope for the best :-)

Looks like its going to be an alto replacement. I hope MUL phases out the 800 and the Alto and replaces it with this.

Next month at the New Delhi Motor Show, Suzuki will unveil the A-Star concept, which foretell's the automakers next global compact car. Why India? Well, local interests, of course. The production version of the car, likely the new Alto according to World Car Fans, will be built in India at Maruti Suzuki's Manesar plant beginning in October 2008. It will be sold globally (read: Europe, India and other non-US markets), and Suzuki plans to keep the vehicle's price low. Technical details are sparse, but reports state that the production version will be powered by a 1.0L Euro 5 emissions compliant engine. If you can read Japanese, you can check out Suzuki's official announcement here.

Isn't it a lovely looking car? Hope they keep the Frontal treatment and possibly attach a GT-R badge.

This is going to give sleepless nights to many.

NEW Suzuki ALTO - Made in India - for the world :) Simply Gorgeous PICS!

Check out the pics below !! Like it?! I LOVE IT! Its Suzuki's new hatch they say that will be exhibited at New Delhi Auto Show next month. Worldcarfans.com folks say it'll possibly be the next ALTO. The International Herald says manufacturing will begin in India October 2008. So this is the third car announced within the last one month to be made in India for the whole world the other two being Hyundai's I10 and the VW UP! (VW is official as well folks).
What do you guys think of the design.

Are we talking looks or what I just can't stop drooling over this lil hot-hatch. I hope this design makes it into production as is.

It would be a big step up from the current Alto/800 right?

The car itself looks fabulous. If its designed by an Indian, then my hat's off to him.

The car definatly looks good though the only thing I didnt like is the turn signals. If they were clear instead of orange it would give the car a more aggressive stance.

I think final design would be given Swift like headlamp treatment.

The bumpers also will most likely be changed to simpler, cheaper bumpers. The rear view cameras will also be obviously replaced by mirrors though I really hope they leave the read tail lamps and door handles the same.
