The Mahindra Scorpio mHawk 2.2

Here Y"all:

Mahindra & Mahindra, the leader in the UV segment in India, today launched the Scorpio V-series, a new line-up of India’s leading SUV, with the introduction of the Scorpio VLX. The new VLX edition is equipped with the powerful mHawk engine and a wide array of smart features which gives the SUV an even greater competitive edge in its segment. The new VLX is priced at Rs. 9.33 lakhs, ex-showroom New Bombay and Rs. 9.65 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi.

The Scorpio V-series offers customers a dual advantage – a technologically superior, more refined and more fuel efficient engine, coupled with innovative tech features which will provide passengers with greater luxury at their finger tips.

“With pathbreaking technology and user-friendly, modern features, the Scorpio V-series is a clear validation of our customer-centric approach to business. This package would delight the evolved, new age customer. The Scorpio has always been the leader in driving change in the industry and with the launch of the new VLX from the Scorpio V-series, we have once again raised the bar,” said Dr. Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. at the much-awaited unveiling of the Scorpio V-series.

Mr. Rajesh Jejurikar, EVP – Marketing & Sales, Automotive Sector, M&M said, “The primary driver for the Scorpio V-series is to surpass the latent desires of customers, with features which are intelligent, savvy and innovative and reflect his personality. The Scorpio V-series is an irresistible value proposition and heralds the arrival of the truly intelligent technology car”.

“The Scorpio V-series is a hallmark of M&M’s innovative cutting edge technology. The high power density mHawk engine and updated transmission allows the vehicle to go from 0 to 60 kmph in 5.7 seconds with greater agility. Moreover, the use of a second generation common rail system, recyclable plastics and aluminum head result in lower weight and better fuel efficiency, while the hydrophobic Nano materials & seamless intelligent electronics will enhance the driving experience during real time human-vehicle interactions. This greener 2.2L state of the art engine catapults the V-series into a new league altogether by meeting current and future stringent emissions standards.” said Dr. Arun Jaura, Senior Vice President Product development & Global R&D, Automotive Sector, M&M.

About the mHawk engine:
Powered by a 2179cc and 4 cylinder diesel engine, the mHawk engine produces 120 bhp and a flat torque of 290 Nm. Advanced Turbochargers feed concentrated gusts of wind into a Variable Geometry Turbine, a simple yet cunning device that partially closes to trap the air inside at high pressures. This generates tremendous torque even at low speeds.
The 2nd generation Bosch Common Rail system with solenoid injectors intelligently manages fuel supply to the engine. With 4 valves per cylinder fuel spray design, the mHawk engine ensures that fuel burns better, generating more power from the same amount of fuel, hence ensuring better fuel efficiency. Moreover, the mHawk’s innovative 2 stage chain drive system and hydraulic lash adjuster cut down engine noise levels drastically, making this monster deceptively quiet.

The new Scorpio VLX sports a host of new technology features:

Music at your fingertips
The conveniently located mode lever on the steering wheel allows you to switch radio stations or change the volume without taking your hands off the steering wheel or your eyes off the road.

Cruise effortlessly
You can now rest your foot at higher speeds. Push a button and let the Scorpio’s cruise control take over while you sit back and relax.

Go ahead; brake hard on any slippery surface
Floor the brakes on any skid-prone surface and you will be pleasantly surprised. The wheels won’t lock on you, steering control will be perfectly obedient. And the brakes will behave just like they always do. ABS will make sure peace reigns inside the car and out.

A Safety Vault protects your vehicle from thieves
The special immobilizer feature locks the engine and cuts off the fuel supply, in case of an attempted forced entry, making it impossible to break into the Scorpio V-series.

With Tyre-tronics, Flat tyres are for others
A sophisticated measuring system tells you the exact air pressure and temperature of each tyre. The sensors located in each tyre monitor pressure and temperature and any unwanted changes in either will immediately flash on the instrument cluster, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable driving experience.

Thinking Headlamps & Wipers
The intelligent headlamps sense changes in ambient light and automatically turn on or off depending on the ambient light levels. The smart windshield wipers start as soon as they sense a certain amount of rain, with the wiping frequency changing according to the intensity of rain.

Intellipark lets you know where you are headed – Even while reversing
The advanced Intellipark system allows you to keep a look out for anything happening behind you without having to turn your head. Moreover, reversing ultrasonic sensors in the rear help you judge the distance between your prized possession, the Scorpio V-series and anything in its way. A sophisticated warning system allows you to judge the location of any obstacle in the rear view mirror.

Style that gets you noticed – every time
Exclusive sporty decals and alloy wheels add that extra zing to this show stopper. Get ready to soak in the admiration as you cruise along in style.

Guys are you sure that vlx does not come with Airbags?
Do they have electronically controlled review mirrors?
Also do they have printed antennas?
Any details about the Audio system?

Thanks.

I read somewhere that Lotus fine tuned suspension specifically for 2.2, secondly engine is lighter than the 2.6 block so handling could be better.

However the gross weight remains the same as that of 2.6crde at 2510 and 2610 for 2wd and 4wd respectively... this is confusing.

120 bhp and 290 nm @ 1600-2800 rpm? I thought the two 2.2s from Tata and M&M were similar and 'worked on' by the same AVL?
.
Is this one going to be the mileage king, then?

The Specifications say:

Max.GVW 2510kg for 2WD
Max.GVW 2610Kg for 4WD

Other than that no hint about the 4WD availability. Safe to assume there is no diff locks.
