Anybody know what is the 0-60kph timing for the Safari. The Scorpio 2.2 is supposed to be 5.7 secs according to the website. I am eager to know which is faster.

BTW is the 2.6 /M2DI Scorp still available ?

For a start Scorp has Delphi and Mahindra has Bosch FI systems.

Wow, this is important, the Scorpio is faster by half a second to 60 which is pretty good. Wonder how it does 0-100.

3 engine choices is a bit too much whereas others are putting 1 engine in 3 different vehicles.

EDIT: Its 4 including the petrol

I would say that it is an intelligent marketing strategy. Caters to all segments of consumers.. Will get the numbers soaring up.

The Safari is the First Indian SUV or "4 wheeler" which has undergone a FULL FRONTAL CRASH TEST.

I dont think the Scorpio has undergone that. Why doenst M&M go the extra mile and do that too.

Its a surprise how they manage to Export it to other countries.

Well, according to ACI's road test in the november issue,0-60 time of the Safari 2.2 is 5.76 secs and 0-100 is 15.16 secs, virtually identical 0-60 times that Mahindra is quoting for the Scorpio 2.2(5.7 secs, sounds overoptimistic).
The Scorpio 2.6 has a 0-60 time of 7.24 secs and 0-100 in 16.53 secs, again according to ACI.

What a waste of M&M getting out the Mhawk and then detuning the 140bhp engine to 120bhp (the old crdi being 110) and giving an excuse that the transmission cannot take the extra load.

I am sure after 1 year they will upgrade the transmission to handle the 140 bhp and then ask us customers to cough up another lakh or two and if we want the full blown 140 bhp version.

Total marketing rip-off. sad but true.

Fail to understand why M&M could not upgrade or change the transmission to handle the 140bhp power in the first place itself. Does it think we are fools.

I remember reading in some ACI issue that the petrol variant was stopped.

just saw one take a 90 deg turn at good speeds and brake immediately afterwards, suspension seems to have been tweaked, no undue roll and pitch.. atleast visible.. bloody fast too

Multiply ps by 0.9863 to arrive at bhp.

The Safari 2.2 is WAAAYYYYYY ahead of the Hawk

140 PS = 138 BHP

1.0 PS = 0.98632 BHP. In general, anything below 180 bhp/ps is pretty much taken as equal. The difference only starts to open up when there are a lot of PSs and BHPs involved

Scorpio Vlx

Guys, Well M&M surely has a 140 BHP version of the engine, only thing is it, its still under developement.

Moreover one thing is for certain the drivebaility of the Scorpio 2.2 is much better than the Safari 2.2, even though both of them have been developed in conjuction with AVL....

I advise you all to go to the Mahindra showroom and testdrive the vehicle and you will realise the power and the features of the new engine...
