Good one there Benny

Well, this 100kph speed is not new. We already have 80 / 100 kph speeds at greater noida expressway if I recall.

And BTW what is a speed limit ? - hardly any one follows it on the expressway - innit ?

@vkochar, you are right! its actually quite painstaking to do a 80 kph on the Mumbai-Pune expressway when u see ppl whizzing past u at 120+ speeds ...

however, I must add that there have been instances of the traffic police penalizing people for stepping over the pre-defined speed limits ... though the instances are far and few ... i personally have not experienced this but a close friend of mine ended up paying some penalty for over-speeding ... apparently he was doing a 140 kph in his Palio 1.6 Sport

What a torture it must be, making a Palio 1.6 'crawl' at 80 kmph!

I think what is needed is to make sure that lane rules are followed on expressways. Without proper order there is no use increasing speed limits. there is always some moron driving below the speed limit on the fast lanes. And ofcourse the bigger moron driving head on in the wrong side with hardly any sense of fear is a common sight on all highways.

Does it realy matter if the govt increases the speed limit? We would still be clocking 140s on the ex-way.

so what is the point in increasing it to 100? we are still overspeeding.

WHAT IS AN EXPRESSWAY!
All we have are pot-holed filled highways which scares at anything above 60 kmph!
, remember there were some talks on making a six lane express way from TVM to kasargode with only one entry/exit per district. That was prematurely killed stating that it will divide the state into two. Goodfellas, we are

Greater Noida - Delhi Expressway = NO SPEED LIMITS

Heaven For Racers and Hell For Careless People.

You bet my friend! for that matter any decent car with a 75 bhp+ rating would be raring to go on the e-way at above 100 ... are they going to penalise everyone speeding on the e-way ... thats practically impossible!

I would assume its more of a statutory warning! ... someone driving at an outrageous speed of 150+ on the e-ways might be the ones who will go into the bad books of the cops!

IMO, they won't bother people doing a 120 in their private vehicles (read cars)

Utterly useless indulgence. Wish they'd put their time to do something meaningful. I never even knew there are speed limits anywhere around the country, and don't blame me for the ignorance.

To the majority of us, the road is there to drive on at one's own risk. Speed limits? There are a hundred things that'll limit your speed on our roads, much better than any legislation will!

What a joke! LOL.

Nothing much will change except the boards indicating 100 instead of 80. The vehicles will meanwhile continue going at 120-140.

chill maadi

Just saw this thread

You mean it was illegal to 100 kmph on our highways so far? All of us should be outlawed!

Well, its certainly good news that authorities are waking up to the fact of better road quality and the more powerful cars. 80kph on the expressway seemed pedestrian!
