Like any automaker looking to solidify its future in the next five ten fifty years, Lotus is beginning a plan to enter the Indian market. The producer of our favorite minimalist motoring experience is beginning to scout out potential dealers throughout the country, and is expected to bring a version of the Elise to market first.

Anything that brings the sublime steering and point-and-shoot nature of Lotus to the masses is a good thing, and with a successful run of cars in Thailand and Mexico, India might prove to be yet another financial boom that can allow Lotus to continue building supremely engaging cars.

Whoa! That's GREAT news! :)

It will never come to India as they will not be able to sell cars here.

The Article is just buzz. I have my sources believe me.

Haven't we heard this before?? IIRC there was some news a few years back too that Lotus along with Proton was interested in entering in India. I think they were to partner Mahindra & one of the mags even said that they were setting up a flagship showroom in Mumbai. Don't know what happened to that one.

Hmm...ok but care to elaborate why in your opinion it won't sell??

this will be a second attempt to enter this market. As iraghava said there was a plan 4 years back or so to partner with Mahindras. Of course we all know what M&M did - they got us the Logan instead!

I don't think they are partnering with M&M. They supposedly helped M&M with suspension and handling for some new model of Scorpion.

Good news is that Lotus wants to get into India :)

I think Lotus has some technical association with Sonalika group that makes the Rhino. They were involved in the design work, I guess.
