Spot on. This thing will sell like hotcakes. If a diesel comes out even 3 months waiting will not get you one.

. If Swift sells, why not this, which has a better back of the two?

IMHO, looks is only a part of the buying decision for a customer (albeit a very important one). To be honest, I'm not a great fan of the Swift looks but still went ahead and bought one since the overall package was superb (driving experience, after sales service, ride quality, price etc.)!!

The sedan should also sell because of the same reason - compared to its peers, I expect the overall package to be much better.

Looking at this, I am already thinking on buying a diesel one.

How does the booking work. Does every dealer have a quota of cars ? So if I were to go to a not-so-famous maruti dealer, would I get the car early ?

Any tips to get it sooner than 3 months ?

Lets not jump into conclusions about panel fit. Remember this is a spy pic inside a factory and we don't even know if the car was ready to roll out yet. For all you know, the door may not be properly shut!

Maruti Suzuki is India's #1 company and they didn't get there not knowing how to get the panel gaps right.

why is everyone so paranoid about the rear door panel gap.
as ~MPower already states, Maruti Suzuki aint the #1 manufacturer of India just like that. if they cannot get the rear one sorted out, Im sure they would make an equally big gap on the front doors as well to even things out....

was enquiring with Bimal about the Esteem LXi. The sales person said that this model would be discontinued in a month or 2 and the SWIFT SPALSH is scheduled to be released on Feb 2008 in similar price tag of Esteem. Anyone have more information on this?
I thought getting a 35K+ discount on the Esteem now was good to go for this since Maruti is always here to service it down the line... But after hearing this from sales person, as usual, back to sq. 1

Hi mjothi, i think esteem is a good one to own even after Maruti discontinuing it. Also now the offer is I think 57k (year end discount). The only problem is the resale value and so it depends on how long you plan to hold it

sorry guys. I was not aware that Swift splash was hatchback. I thought that is the swift sedan we are taking about . So posted in this thread.
@simon: Yes thats one thing I am not sure about. I am a Maruti fan due to my Zen. But resale of esteem? is a big question.

hey one of my cousin is in maruti and he told me the price for the petrol would be around 5 50 on road delhi

and the diesel would be around 650

so now lets wait and watch what the price is. According to me the have to price it between 550-650. if they price it below that then it will eat up the market of swift and if they price it more than 650 then people would prefer to buy the more powerful sx4..

imo this would be a great car and a good replacement for esteem

i would personally buy the diesel varient

M series?

Guys,

Is this sedan going to have the same old esteem engine as in the Swift, or the new M series engine as Maruti had declared.

Am talking only of the petrols!
