Had a talk with a FIAT representative regrading the Palio MJD launch. The car would be launched in March for sure and will be having the 4th generation MJD engine. The swift is running the third generation of the same engine. I think that explains the OD figures of 80 bhp and 19 kgm.

Whats the difference between the 3rd and 4th generation?

However, bad news for all those betting on the numbers (as against swift diesel), the target is only 500 units a month.

I don't think price has anything to do with it. I think Fiat is being realistic with that target. No matter how good the car, it's not going to sell over 500 units per month because the Palio name carries too much of negative baggage with it.

I was kinda hoping that they price it competitively to target more than 500.

It tells you that they are not being over ambitious with their sales figures and they have done a reality check. I am glad FIAT is learning from its mistakes.

About the price tag of Palio 1.3 MJD

Dont do you people think that Price tag of Palio 1.6 petrol will be big Limiting factor Because if they price is too low that it will effect Palio 1.6 sales ?!

So I presume that Palio stile 1.3 MJD will priced almost same as Swift for the Base model.

Dear Mr. Sajan,

Thank you for your interest in Fiat cars. We are pleased to share with
you that we are planning to launch Palio Stile Multijet Diesel in March
this year, the price would be around 4.75lacs (Ex-Showroom Delhi). The
Grande Punto is being launched in second half of this year and the price is not fixed yet. We can not comment on the ABS as of now for these cars and you will have to wait till the launch. Customisation of these cars is possible to an extent at the dealerships end.

Please feel free to write to us in case of any further query.

Warm regards,
Jaldeep Virani.

This clealy means that there is not going to be any optional stuff like ABS, Airbags as this is possible only in the factory. Maybe alloys would be optional at the dealership.

Fiat is targeting sales of 6,000 units annually for this car. The Multijet engine has been mate d to the gearbox from the original 1.9-litre diesel Palio, with the suspension and brakes being carried over from that car as well.
This the importany stuff from above link
I think 6000 units is realistic figure here

Got a email from Fiat India about Palio MJD. Expected launch is February end or March beginning. No comments on specs, pricing and features.
