Actually, the prices of Fiat spares have gone up considerably after the tie up with Tata. Originally, Fiat spares were very expensive but the prices were reduced considerably later. Around the time of time up with Tata and for a while even after the tie up, spare prices of Fiat cars were actually lower than those of similar spares for Tata cars. Today, Fiat cars are positioned above the Tata cars in Tata-Fiat model line up and hence their spare parts have also been jacked up and are even above Tata cars. In the process, we Fiat car owners end up as losers.

Thanked: Once

Yesterday I happened to go through The Week magazine in my office and this was an AutoExpo special edition. They have put up statements from some of the manufacturers about their plans for 2008. In this context, Rajeev Kapoor, CEO, Fiat India Automobiles has said in a statement that apart from introducing Multi Jet Diesel engine on Palio Diesel Stile, the plans are on for Linea, Punto, 500 and Bravo. That is all that they have mentioned and no details about MJD options, launch dates, etc.

, I had been to Prerana Motors, Lalbagh road for insurance renewal. When enquired about Palio Stile Diesel, the customer attendant confidently told that there is no such plan for Stile but there is a plan for sedan. I enquired is it for Linea, he said no, its for Punto sedan(sedan??)

No. Linea is the sedan version of the Grand punto.

Grand Punto came out in 2005, whereas the Linea, based on the Grand Punto platform came out in 2007.

At 4.7 ex showroom, it should come in cheaper than the Swift D with the same engine and much better build quality. if they can get their A.S.S. in line, it should do well
