Guys Swift LDI and VDi prices have already been slashed so can we expect Palio 1.3 mutli jet to be launched at less VDI or equal to LDI. I guess it will be great if fiat can launch it at 4.50 exShowroom. I'll be first one running to showroom for booking that day!! Hope its not day dreaming

if it does, the indica turbo/dicors will have to take a price hit

OR

tata dealers will discourage it's sales like getz CRDi sales are being discouraged by hyundai's own dealers.

Why would tata sell something that would reduce its own profits ?

If that would be the scenario then the best choice for Fiat should be to say OK TATA Bye Bye to their Fiat-Tata Joint Venture. Tata

This month's (Mar 08) CAR magzine has brief TD of Palio 1.3MJD.
It quotes FIAT officials saying they will price 40 to 50K bellow SWIFT.

It also says the build quality is not good!!

And it also says the gearbox is too rubbery and a pain to use and that the engine is not as responsive as the swift's...

It mazing to raed such a thing about Fiat and somewhat unbelievable

1) Palio is known for its built
2) its gerabox also has been reported to be quite good

I havent read the mazgine but it would be interesting to see who Palio lost everuthing it had positive by just puting a MJD in it

FIAT have not paid them enough it seems. The gearbox in the MJD is a completely new unit and I presume it would be as good if not better than the previous one. And the previous is one of the slickest gearbox around.

@drkhalsa. The article was about testin five diesel hatches: Fusion TDCi, Swift DDis, Getz CRDI, Palio MJD and Fabia diesel. In various depts various cars came first. The impression I got was that they have given more points to SWIFT DDis

A rubbery Gearbox and a cost < A swift?
Is it an tata in fiat clothing , or at least some parts? The indica X1 is going to use the MJD , and given the tata Fiat tie up, parts sharing seems like a logical cost cutting measure !

Thanks for making it clear to me
Comparing Palio with Fusion , Fabia then obviously it is bound to score less on various parameters

Largely, the only thing that has helped FIAT retain its enthusiasts/fans over the year is their product. I think any compromise on product quality/feel,might well be the final nail in the coffin.

Hi,

Yes read this comparo in the recent issue of car and like most people on the thread I am a little lost on the rubbery gear shift bit. Surely FIAT would be able to put together a better gearbox/engine combo for what is essentially their engine and car!!

Yes, indeed the gearbox is very rubbery. Gear-shifting is what I actually hated with Fiat Palio Multijet. Same goes with brakes, they are too sensitive. If one doesn't have control over the car, I bet he/she is going to get back to the showroom for denting work within 1km of driving it.
Body, bit better than Indica and Swift. One should expect as it's build like a tank.
Engine, yes there is no life till 2000 rpm after that it goes. So city driving under heavy traffic actually becomes a pain.
And I was not impressed by the interiors. Cost cutting measures has made me say this statement.

Actually, Palio is > Indica but < Swift.
