All these things he has achieved within 10 years of the first launch of Indica. Where are those GMs, Fords, Toyotas etc where in they are manufacturing the cars from almost a century and they still could not think about this. hahaha.

Kudos to Indian Manufacturers and kudos to Tata's we have proved to the world what we can do if we have determination

Though Tata has kept the car and its name under wraps very well, it seems that the name has been "leaked"; someone working for a New Delhi-based company named Verist has taken the URL tatanano.com on 24 DEC 2007....

the luxury version could have atleast had an auto tranny. so now i have two console (boxes?) valleys where i can keep a zillion things! and imagine the innumerable accessories that it would come with! each one costing 100 rupees (after all thats what a 1 lac car accessory must cost right ?) well this is going to be an exciting time --- for auto drivers and two wheeler drivers! on the first looks of it, I guess i ll accumulate more money and go for bajaj's car perhaps!

Woww.. Bravo.. Ratan Tata and his gang at Tata Motors. The car looks really sweet and .. COMPLETE (is the word) !!

Also, I can see that Mr Bajaj has launched the much needed replacement for their Auto rickshaw. Trying to steal Tata's thunder by launching a rickshaw one day before Nano and 2 years before it actually hits the road isnt going to get them anywhere IMHO !!

Its a great achievement by Tata leaving all the rivals speechless. As someone said, 'ambani's dream to call anywhere in India for Rs.1/-' is similar to 1 lak car. As the automobile industry is highlighting 10th January 2008 in bold letters, there are many issues that are coming up on the indian roads.

Is it a farewell to M800 ? When the usage is purely within city and majority prefering to fly between domestic destinations with cheap air tickets, its a big threat to the complete M800, Santro, Alto, Wagon R etc. range of cars. Reva, the electric car which looks like a mice but underpowered and overpriced ( ranges from 3 lak upwards) would even close down.

When you are offered a complete car for 1 lak( enough power for the city and highest mileage of 20 per litre ), how many people would throw away 3 or 4 laks just for city use, where one can never think of any speeds above 50 kmph except 12am to 5am ? Its not only 4 wheel segment, but also 2 wheel segment will suffer a lot. Anyone who can afford to buy a bike worth above 70k will defenitely give it a thought to tata's car. I dont dare to think about the traffic when all the 2 wheels are replaced by tata's car on road. I could sell my wagon R and buy 4 tata cars for each member of the family !!

It could have been 1 lakh OTR had Narasimha Rao been the first prime minister of India. Now you and I are feeding so many babus, so it is not really a 1 lakh car.
And remember, they can make it a 3 lakh car if they wish to do so...

didnt get that...you mean those who are driving cheap cars are all bad drivers?, that someone's driving skills - and common sense- improve when you put him/her behind the steering of a Bently?

The car does look impressive. But the final verdict on the car will have to wait till we see how it perforns on Indian roads. Two concerns:

1. The 624 cc engine. How will it perform on ghat roads and long drives? Will it have the legendary reliability of the 800 cc engine of M800?

2. Safety: Looks like the front seat occupants do not have much protection in case of a head-on crash. Bonnet space is pretty small.
