I own a MCC Smart, and the AC is very effective. The size of the compressor is like a normal oil filter!!

That is a 3 wheeler, slightly safer then a 2 wheeler but not as safe as a 4 wheeler, it has chances of turning wrong side up if cornered hard or if hit by anyother vehicle. Have seen a few upside down when the driver turned to fast at a U Turn.

Oh come on, Mr. MSPrabhakar. Putting a steering wheel in an Auto doesn't make it a car. Nano is a proper CAR.

How does the 1 Lakh car compare with a bajaj RE autorickshaw ? Is it more or less ? I guess the autos would be priced between 70-80k ?

Even the BADAL was better and safer than this one!! it atleast had a closed body and a good engine!
Well lets all Accept that Today there is Nothing to beat the Nano, even close to its price band!!

Dude , you are completely missing the point. Your condescension towards auotodrivers and 2 wheeler drivers is totally mispalced.

Even autodrivers and two wheeler drivers are upwardly mobile , just like you and me and most of the world. Nano is a product which is a safer and convenient upgrade for many of them. It will also fill up the need for a cheap , city runabout for many people, not necessarily autodrivers.

The discernoing few like you will continue to have the choice of Mercedes E & S Classes, BMW 5 series and Audis .

I see no reason for making any snide remarks on the likely buyers of the nano.

About the the 100 rupee accessory , it will be as common as a 500 rupee accessory in a 5 lac rupees car.

1.4 lakhs for that rat-trap with a rag to cover your head. But then there are no environmentalists against it, nor is anyone concerned about crash-test worthiness or safety or convenience on the auto.

The motorized tela powered by a water pumpset that is the Force Minidor costs even more.

Richard Arkwright 's Factory concept created an Industrial revolution and Britain Dominated the world in 19th century.

Henry Ford Assembly line revolutionised the way work is done and US went on the dominate the world in 20th century

Tata's create Nano which is expected to change the way distribution channel runs. Will this play as a catalyst for India to dominate the world in 21st century.

Let us see how it unfolds. Goldman Sachs BRIC's report might become true in India's case.

P.S: One more target segement use it as golf cart.

I would be absolutely delighted if those rat traps are replaced by these machines.

well said steeroid

most of the discussion about this car in this forum, in news papers and TV is about the negative impacts. i feel the unstated/implied suggestion is

"only chosen few have right to car/4 wheeler"
"how dare all get 4 wheeler and make it difficult for the chosen few to travel in luxury"

further no body asked the safety aspect to any manufacturer till TATA came into picture. all of sudden everybody wants to know whether TATA car is safe / pollution etc etc.
are all the cars sold prior to TATA's entry are safe? pollution free?
why even today nobody question's maruti/ hyundai about safety of their cars?
Is Maruti 800, Zen, wagon R, santro are crash tested? or they crash safe?

so we have two standards one for TATA and other for all other car manufacturers

the other day some gentleman is asking that one lakh car does not have RPM meter. kindly go and see a 4 lakh santro. it does not have a RPM meter and also no internally adjustable OVRM's even today.

this effort has more to do with empowerment of all or majority of the population. it is more like inclusive growth ( all sections of a country)rather than exclusive growth of few
