Talking to an uncle today about the Nano. He is a well off guy with already 2 upscale cars. He wants to buy 2 Nanos, one for each of his college kids.

So, not only are we going to see the family of four upgrading from scooter, but we are now going to see familes with 4 cars.

I have no idea how TATA is going to meet demand. I see this thing booked solid for 4 years with dealers and speculators charging 25K premium. Reminds me of 1986 when we bought our first Maruti 800 for 90K (CKI 4588). 75K dealer price +15K premium.

What's that supposed to mean? That your tricycle is a car?

Any bicycle in India has a wheel bigger than any car that you can buy in NJ.

So what?

The WEST and those who live there can't digest achievements from anywhere else in the world. Grow up and mature!

I think you are in the wrong forum.. TBHPians mostly own four-wheelers and 2-wheelers.

Air bags?? You are kidding me !! Anyway, even if Air bags are provided, I dont think they can be of much help in such a small car.

I don't think cars like the Ambassador (5Lakhs) and Omni (3Lakhs?) are crash tested either. So, why should anybody make a big noise about this baby? As a city runabout for 4, this car is absolutely fantastic. Remember, it also offers protection from the rain which you can't get on a bike. It's also made the Reva look amazingly stupid.
With the price sure to go up, reliability and after sales service will be the key to the Nano's success.

Corportate rivals

During one of his many interviews at the Auto Expo Mr. Ratan Tata revealed that there are some corporate rivals who have tried to scuttle this project.

This is what he said in his own words
Quote:
Mr Tata also promised to reveal the identities of corporate rivals who might be interested in scuttling the project. “It is a promise. At an appropriate time we will do it.”
Source : Scathing Tata takes on numerous detractors

Will he keep this promise as well?

i just feel sorry and pity our indian fellows who just cannot stop cribbing and "never get satisfied" mentality.

what TATA's have done is a remarkable feat.

On of key member is Girish Wagh(out of various outstanding engineers/managers) -- who has also been involved in 'Ace'. Please check for his name in google for more news about Nano/Ace

This Guy, Girish Wagh has been instrumental in making the mini-truck ACE a hit in India. He has done an awesome job on the Nano too.

Hats off to this guy!!!
