In fact we had a scoop on this long time ago.
Here's the thread : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ty-impact.html

Remember this was the first place where the real pic was published :).

So Finally we get to see whether history is made. If it becomes a success, Im sure that segment will get crowded with others like Suzuki, Mahindra announcing their intention to compete in that segment. What will happen to our poor infrastructure, badly maintained roads, the upper bike segment? Time will tell.
I also don't think it will be 1 lacs per se. Will be definitely higher than that. What with all taxes going up over the years and state governments keen to increase tax on the poor thing. :deadhorse

That too, way back in june! :thumbs up

It will be interesting to see what this thing looks like and the prices for add-ons such as AC etc (if they offer it).

Good to see an indian made car and that too @ 1lac. The dream is coming true. But do our roads hold the vehicles? As it is our roads are too small and crumpled. With the release of this car, and if it is a hit, we can expect a large no of buyers for this and our roads will be chock-a-block. Lets see what other competitors has to offer for this.

We are so tired of seeing this same logic over and over again. Yeah we dont have the roads, everyone knows, the roads will get congested, that too everyone knows. Is that the reason to not sell an affordable car for the masses, or a reason to build better infrastructure?

Atleast if this is a success it will probably make the thinktank think of ways of alleviating the pain by improving on it. As it is the cities need better public transport rather than personal transportation options.

Found 1 pic of the 1 lac car.
Not sure if this has been posted here before. It "could" be the 1 lac car.

Thats an old doctored photograph of the smart. The real car is said to look very different and sports 4 doors for 4 people.

This is great news. Well if TATA has managed to extract 25 kmpl from their petrol engine, it makes me wonder what they have done with their diesel...

We dont have the infrastructure or the right mentality. This car will make things worse as every tom dick and hardeep will take to the roads without any form of driver training. It is bad enough at the moment with all the bad drivers on our roads but this will multiply the problem.

As usual the GOI will do nothing to improve driving standards. The whole system needs reform. If the Chinese can drive with lane discipline then why do we have a problem with this ? Even in places like Delhi good drivers are very rare.

A big crackdown and large fines are needed to teach people about road discipline, only then will 1 lakh cars be a welcome addition to roads.
