i am hoping they launch the 1.3 JTD palio and it does very well, atleast this way the stile 1.1 i bought would get common spares off the rack.
and i don't think FIAT will discontinue the 1.1 so soon, i hope they don't. i also hope they don't launch the 16 valve version for 1.1 (which i hear is not true) (would not want to be stuck with the 8 valve engine).

PLease tell us how this was confirmed?
I too am hoping for the 1.3MJD but i could not get any confiramtion.
All i get is "wait for the January Auto show".

Actually the tata showroom at charni rd mumbai is saying that they have no news on the 1.3 , one salesman went as far as saying that the 1.3MJD engine will only feature on the Punto it will never come on the Palio because then it will compete directly with the indica V3 ( which tata is gonna power with fiats 1.3 engine). Now Tata would not want that!!

i too lie the rest of us hope that this is not true

Well, i'm gutted that the Punto will come only in 2009, but the 1.3 MJD Palio will be very interesting!
I'm currently planning to purchase a diesel small car in the next few months and thought that the choice would be the Swift VDi, Indica V3 and the Skoda Fabia.
I'm hoping the 1.3MJD Palio is announced soon and turns out well kitted. Atleast I hope they offer ABS as an option as I recently got into a scrape due to wheels locking under heavy braking.
Upgraded interiors will be a great new year gift to the Palio too.

Weren't there rumors that FIAT was also thinking of launching a facelifted version of the UNO to tap the lower end of the segment?

PS: I had read this long back in some of the mags (autocar or Auto India).

Moral, Can you confirm if they are still planning to do this?

AFAIK, an indian company (under a famous person in the industry) bought the dies of the outdated UNO to introduce a car in India.

FIAT is not involved.

After this particular person bought the Daewoo india plant machinery there seems to be conflicts within the company with the management not to happy with this famous person.

They have a link of the Blue&me which means the Bravo is going to be the fully loaded one. The engine is going to be the 1.9L JTD 150bhp version!

Pictures of all the new cars including GP are of left hand driver ones. But good to see that they are showing some signs of life.

The Grande Punto is smashing! Damn, why did I buy the SX4?!
