Saw a Mini Wannabe in Kochi today. Black, with White roof.

Spotted about 3-4 other Fabias too.

Saw a Black one (not the one with the white roof) being ICEd (not at my regular place).

Saw the Fabia real close. I was disappointed

Exterior looks really unremarkable. It did not look like a 8L car from any angle. The Car is SMALL and the engine was very noisy on the outside. I did not sit inside but he rear space looked just average

Also in motion it often resembles Swift, which i NOW find a better looking car!

I really don't know understand why would anyone buy this car..

Saw a Black Fabia TDI parked. Had a temp registration.

Overall looked OK. Interiors also look great.
The tyres somehow seemed puny though.

the fabia is not as big as it looks in pictures. the rear leg space is decent though. its got a very weird long handbrake which looks funny. on the outside i really like the car, especially white.

Had my first interaction with the car yesterday.
In one line - After such a long wait for India launch, Skoda fabia has been a big disappointment on all fronts.

But, the 3 pot motor is horrible, I would feel ashamed to drive such clatter in the neighborhood!

8 lacs for a diesel hatchback!!! Skoda has totally disappointed here.
After making us wait for 3 years this is what they give and also
the diesel engine is quite noisy. I want to see how Honda Prices its
Jazz/ Fit now.

i am sure Honda wouldn't price the Jazz at this level . If they had to price it at this level , they would think twice of bringing it to India as they are seeing the consumers reaction towards Fabia.

knowing Honda I wont be surprised if Jazz (if it makes to India) will be priced at least on par with Fabia if not more. Their City is overpriced by at least 1 lakhs (the one with airbags & ABS costs 9+! Same as Corolla!!!).
I suspect they will price it on par with Fabia (Petrol) and try to kill Fabia! I dreamt of owning a fabia but am so disappointed with the sticker price :( I'll prob buy a Swift ZXi and go for some mods on that!!

I think a generalization about Europeans not being able to make cost effective small cars is completely uncalled for, I think its best to avoid any generalizations altogether. Renualt, VW and Peugeot make some great hatches (warm/hot) and all of them are VFM propositions on par with their Japanese counterparts. Also, I do not think i'd compare a Tata or
Hyundai to something that is essentially a VW Polo (same parts bin but the Fabia is bigger). Its at least a generation ahead of anything from Hyundai and at least two geeratiosn ahead of Tata as far as quality is concerned. I do feel its overpriced by 1L, but its something a discerning customer will still find OK. About the NVH issue, the noise is barely audible inside the cabin, the V and H part is negligible when compared to the 3 pot from Hyundai ( I have previously owned an Accent Viva CRDi). The ride quality on the Fabia is top notch, so if your an objective Indian customer with space, interior quality, standard equipment, FE and ride quality in mind, the Fabia makes a pretty compelling argument.

Pretty common sight in Kochi now. Step out into the city and you'll see at least 2 of them. Most of them are black. Next most silver. Then Grey. Then White. Lastly ONE Red (haven't spotted other Red ones). But then, Kerala (and especially Kochi), has always been Skodaland

Too bad I haven't been able to snap any yet. Always see them while on the move.

But for a Skoda crazed country the Fabia is yet to make some good popularity. the Lauras were far ahead succesful than this small piece of a CAR!

Is Fabia a failure ?

Since I don't hear much about Fabia these days can I assume that Fabia is a failure. I don't even see one single person come here and post the review or talk anything about it. ?
