Tanked up my car with normal petrol from the HP outlet near Cosmos Mall at Brookfields. Decent service, and seeing the dirty condition of my car even cleaned both the front as well as rear windscreens for me.

Looks like i have found a decent alternative to Shell.

An advert in today's TOI says that at Club HP outlets they would now be issuing printed bills for fuel dispenses, ala Shell. One man's loss, is another man's gain, so they say.

IOC any day. Or even HP. I prefer state owned brands over others in India. And they are also cheaper.

IOC. desi desi desi oi oi oi

I filled up the tank at the IOC station on OMR (Indiranagar double rd junction).

Service vise they are as good as Shell i.e. if you don't mind the manual hand written bill (only on request). They offered & cleaned the glass.

One major thing they can improvise on is the cleanliness of the whole place.

My point is if the state owned companies try a little hard, they can give shell a stiff competition.

I have continued using Shell Premium for Innova and I can see better performance and increase in FE, couple of days back Melukote 280 km trip returned 11.75kmpl as FE with 10% AC usage! with K&N Air Filter I can see engine is super silent and fast response for driver hence less gear changes.

Regards,

Ravi.

Looks likeI now need to search for IOC that sells 91 octane petrol (bs-3) in Hyderabad.
Any clues if FullMoon or the IOC bunk near HPS offers bs-3 petrol?
I think shell normal is still available in hyderabad at around Rs.48.xx. Probably Bengalore is the first city in shell's queue to implement the plan. However, certain IOC bunks in the city provide good fuel, almost always i fill up IOC normal petrol, if i cannot go by a shell bunk.

After trying BP normal petrol I have switched back to shell. In the last fill i got FE 13.33 (lowest ever i got) in with 20 % AC. I know it is not bad while considering the cost diffrence (almost 4 ruprees a lit.)In similar conditions shell normal/super used to give 14.5 +. In the last fill shell normal has given 14.56 and with 30% ac on.

I really dont get it.

About a month back I had asked Shell guys at Ameerpet (Hyderabad) & they said there was nothing they had ever heard about normal petrol being stopped & like deetee pointed out it is still very much available.

I've started using IOC regular from the Banshankari bus stand pump. Its giving me the same performance as Shell normal used to. I'm happy.

I shifted to Speed in my Getz. I find that the mileage with speed is 1 km higher than Shell. I am getting 12.5 kmpl in 100 % city driving with Speed.

Wondering which one is good for the engine considering the quality of fuel and additives.

Yes. Shell Normal is available at Rs 48.85 and will be available all over Hyderabad at least till the end of next quarter. Got it confirmed from the Shell, IDA Uppal filling station staff. I was told even if Govt. increases by 4 rupees, it wont burn our pockets that much if we stick to Shell Super / Normal as they are proposing only a fuel hike by Re 1 in the coming month if Govt hikes petrol by Rs 2 or by Rs 4.

I think this poll is for those who don't have access to Shell Normal or if they are out of reach of a Shell Filling Station at that time.

The Shell outlet at Somajiguda does not sell normal diesel any longer. And their Premium diesel is 37 bucks!! Thats 3.50 more than normal diesel at PSU pumps!

burning hole ?

Couldn't fill the day before fuel price hike, and the next day SHell Super unleaded was Rs. 56.65 in BGL. A tank full of 26.64L cost me Rs.1509.16 ... way above my usual Rs.1275- Rs.1350 it used to cost me before.

And why why only BGL did shell stop supplying Normal Petrol ?
