They were supposed to hike the prices, right? But due to pressure on volumes, I feel, they are continuing the discounts. As far as SX4 is concerned, right now they cannot afford to give any discounts as the car itself is in great demand.

Same is the case with swift diesel.

However, swift petrol is back in the charts now. Might also be clearing of stocks- hoping that the M-series would come after Swift sedan launch!

Heard that the SX4 is slipping of late. Poor build quality and poor economy. The Honda dealers are again happy!

Have been scouting for that since December..they havent reduced a penny .except a 2.5K stadard Corporate discount (Gold Class).

Except that ..NO DISCOUNTS in BANGALORE..

I am sure the news is faulty.

I didn't see any discount yet in bangalore news paper from Maruti. But I heard Maruti will continue to give discounts the main reason:

Maruti cars need heavy discounts day by day to retain heavy volummes.
All its new models have one or other issues and still MUL is unable to give trouble free new model. Knowing this fact MUL creates big price difference with its compitetors. MUL has read Indian mind very well price matters here than quality/safety!

I do agree Maruti has started giving better safety features on new models but cars come with still very very bad build quality so still cars don't deserve good rating.

Another reasaon for heavy discounts: MUL don't have any new cars to launch in 2008 except Swift Sedan. 2008 Year end it will launch few Diesel version of existing cars may be SX4/Swift Sedan Diesel. So this year MUL will work on streamlining the models and make them equipped with better materials rather than coming up with new launches.

Regards,

Ravi.

Can anyone please tell me what would be the ex-showroom price on a base Esteem LX after applying the Rs. 68000 discount. Are the prices on their website before or after the discount? The cheapest Esteem on the website is for Rs. 444675.
Also how much more can you negotiate with the dealer? I'm not very good at haggling for prices.

According to ACI, 3xxx units of SX4 were sold last month compared to 24xx units of NHC. Ford Fiesta sold about 1475 units. And it has a diesel!

But, I do agree with you on the poor quality. My SX4 has had more issues in 4 months then my Palio has had in 4 years!

VXi costed 5.20lac here at Trivandrum 2 months back, so now one should be able to buy it for 4.55-65lac OTR.

The Fiesta also has Ford Service

Anyone has any idea if the discounts are available in Mumbai? Didn't see anything in today's paper

Wow, that's cheap. How much less do you think the LX will be though?
