Hmm the pricing of the CR-V is wrong. The ex-showroom price of the CR-V MT is 17.7L ex-showroom delhi.

Which means that the Captiva is priced exactly the same as the CR-V and the on-road price in Bangalore will be 21L.

edit: oops I forgot the CR-V price was increased after the sunroof addition.

Damn, gotta rule this one out of my "probable buy"... too expensive... i think GM got it completely wrong on pricing...The CRV has a more elite image than the Captiva.

I dont understand why someone cannot launch a good small SUV under 10L? There is a huge untapped market out there...

The current options only do good to a commercial buyer.

With the new Sumo hitting showrooms, there's something to look out for in the under-Rs 10lakh segment. Won't be long before some other car maker comes up with competition for the Sumo.

Exactly! more like a compact 4x4.

A refined 2000CC Diesel, 110+ bhp, loads of torque and chassis/handling to match!
Ah....dreams!

EDIT: If only Grand Vitara had a diesel heart!

Elito

Just you wait till Tata replace the Safari.

These days for moving the market forward and coming up with desirable products one has to depend on domestic manufacturers!

Saw a black Captiva when I had gone for my 5000kms service. The A.S.S. people had no clues about the launch date and pricing. It had temp WB plates. The hood was open with lots of wires sticking out!

no 4x4

Looking at the website, especially the comparison with other SUV's - cool website design, but does mention that it is not a 4x4.. Bigger than the CRV and is the big difference is a 7 seater vs 5 and being diesel powered..

You are correct lol! Close to 18 lacs & no AWD or 4x4, what were they thinking?

From the looks of it - seems good. The only thing lacking is the AWD. Comparitively speaking Tuscon seems a tad under the Captavia as far as trim level & power goes.

Overall seems like a decent SUV. Let's see how the story unfolds as some of us drive it :-)

cheers

Power: BHP and Torque - Better than Tuscon, GV, PAjero, Endy. CRV scores on the BHP front marginally..
Size: Only the endy matches the size - all others are smaller and 5 seater.
Interiors: Same class a CRV and way better than the others
Fuel: The key differentiator over CRV and GV
4x4/AWD: The Achilles heel
Price: Endy(?) and GV on one side and CRV,Tuscon,Pajero on the other

the ones to suffer most: Pajero, Tuscon. Endy might see a dip. GV is already showing signs of low sales. The key question - CRV was the best dressed SUV and can the Captiva take it on??
