Spy pic of Chevrolet Captiva. Now launched!

Got my copy of 'What car' today and it says that the captiva will be launched around diwali this year and will feature the same 120bhp optra diesel engine with the expected price around Rs. 15 lacs ....

Dont know how far thats true cos the last time i read about the Captiva was in ACI(sister mag whatcar) and it mentioned the car would be featuring 150 bhp diesel engine , with the price tag around Rs. 18 lacs and will be launched by the end of 2007 ....

Dont know whether we should really trust these magazine, they cahnge their statements every month ,they are going from bad to worse

Can anybody confirm whether the captiva wil be coming with the Optras 120 bhp diesel or the 150 bhp thats selling all over the world ?

Hi Guys

A few days I remember I read in Times of India that Captiva will be launched in beginning of second quarter next year.
I don't exactly remember the date when I read this.
This was probably when they launched the new Aveo.
The article also mentioned about Captiva.

Well i too noticed some SUV looking like Tucson and just at the last moment noticed the Chevy logo but could not read the name.

So is Captiva launched unofficially ?

Its coming in April 2008 with 150bhp engine according to what my dealer says.

The reason for the delay is that GM test the cars for long term reliability, remember Optra Magnum, it was being tested for one whole year by GM. They will test the car and make adjustments accordingly for India.

According to Agencyfaqs GM has called for a pitch for Captiva and is expected to launch in March 2008, in petrol and diesel versions, pricing is expected at around 15-20 lakhs.

Guys, saw a Captiva yesterday when I'd gone to drop my kids to their music lessons in DLF Phase IV. It was a GJ registration so it seems like its already here. I have a few pics that I'll upload later on (on my phone & don't have the bluetooth here in the Office

Yup, sorry for not mentioning that - I thought it had more road presence than the CRV, GV, X-trail & the Tucson (I'm comparing with the 5 seater types). It looked good

Brilliant scoop! Going by the extremely light camouflage, launch date's coming soon.... and it'll probably have and even torquier (!!!) diesel than the Magnum.

spotted same captiva again...

when i was in ARAI.. saw one truck their. when i asked to driver, he said he is going to deliver Honda civic and one other honda car from arai to delhi. so any new civic on card???

GM India plans to import the Captiva as a fully assembled unit. Expected price is 20 L and will be launched in December 2007.

The Captiva can take a large share of the increasing SUV market if its priced below 20 lakhs. The mitsu outlander better watch out !

@tusky- This isnt the same Captiva you posted first, the previous one had body colored mirrors and the last digits of the regn numbers differ too.

tushky did you manage any interior pictures of the car?
i wanted to know if the car would be launched in an automatic varient?
