Why is any paying such an exorbitant amount for a Daewoo built 2WD?Suzuki sounds like a much better deal.If you want to spend more I would suggest a CRV that Honda reliable.Is this sold as a 7 seater?

This car has the same engine as the Optra Magnum just in another state of tune. The torque figure is almost same at 320Nm compared to the Magnum's 314Nm.

For 21.25L on road bangalore and 2WD it's expensive for sure.

I could instead buy the Magnum Lt for 11.6L then buy a Safari EX 2.2VTT Dicor for 9.8L 7 seater.

The total cost would be around the same as the Captiva.

India is not a very mature auto market yet. Many folks dont' realize that they are getting a re badged daewoo and paying for more it than proven Japaneses brands.

Dude, Daewoo products arene tbad even if he company went bankrupt. Optra (re badged Nubira) can teach a lesson even to cars a segment above it wrt ride comfort, interiors, build quality.

I agree Daewoo products are not bad products. We had a Matiz before it was good. never seen a spacious small car like that before.

Is that why the nubira depreciates about 47 % after one year of use?

Just to add, I am not suggesting that Korean products are terrible. Hyundai has some good products. However, i would never pay more for a Korean car than I would pay for a similar Japanese model.

But I have hardly seen any Korean product asking a premium than its competing Japanese auto in the same segment. So if captiva roots are considered to be Korean, its still cheaper than the CR-V.

Top end of CRV is above 20 lacs and still it is no the best packaged SUV.

The way Suzuki kicked HONDA a$$ in the Honda City segment, won't be long when Koreans (SANTA FE, CAPTIVA) with their fully loaded models do the same.

Also, what Chevrolet Captiva has to do with Americans? Captiva is fully assembled in Daewoo plant at Korea, so it's essentially Korean and ASIAN.

Thats because of stupid mentality of majority of car buyers in India.
Let's be practical - Optra Magnum kicks Octy from all possible angles. Its time for ask why Octy is charging us a premium for not so special car?

Its not similar. The Captiva is a diesel so it is worth more than a petrol.

Based on just about everything, on Indian roads, I would pay 20 odd lacs for Fully Loaded Captiva than Fully Loaded CRV.

Forget about horrible fuel economy and high running costs (petrol), CRV spares cost an arm & leg when compared to Captiva.

if RAV4 was available that would be option 1, but Santa fe once released should be option 1 in the SUV segment simply because its a bloody good SUV, much better than Vitara, CRV and Captiva IMHO. Hyundai has come a long way. However let's wait and see the pricing and how the market responds.

Hyundai Santa Fe is rumoured to cost above 20 lacs and around 22-25 lacs. If that happens, then it's no match for Captiva.

If my budget were to go beyond 22 lacs, my (and most of SUV Junkies) choice would be legendry Nissan X-Trail. Even for 20 odd lacs, I would buy X-Trail Comfort model anyday.

Hyundai has to price it below 20 lacs to compete and beat Captiva as Hyundai cannot compete with Nissan at same price bracket in same category (SUV).
