Hyundai uses VTVT, the new Elantra will use the same engine found in the Sonata Embera CRDi, a 2.0L engine, 140PS, 31KGM and 6 speed gearbox.

The Sumo Grande - Suman this is for you! Its spacious. VERY spacious - the third row looks like it is actually usable by normal people.

The looks are very awkward from the side, though. It shouldnt matter to the target market, though - if they lapped up the Qualis, this shouldnt be too difficult.

Dont be in a hurry to conclude on their behalf. The Hyundai representatives were talking about 1.6 CRDis and 2.2s, not the 2.0.

If you are sure about your sources, you should be here in Delhi.

Nice pics of the Sumo, are they calling it phoenix?

I spoke to Hyundai regional office some days back and thats what they told me, and i am pretty sure they wont launch a 1.6 or 2.2 CRDi engine, rather use the 1.5, 2.0 engine for cost purposes. The cost being the major factor in delaying the Elantra launch.

And doesnt the Swift look like a cheap copy of the Mini? Food for thought.

Here's the Xenon, probably my next car if the pricing (for 4x4) is right:

Grande looks really nice. Looks more like a tavera/innova. if the quality and fit/finish turn out to be as good, then tata's have a winner. ofcourse safari2.2 engine is a winner already.

Whats with the thick A-pillar and the thick back-window pillar in the Sumo grande? Visibility will defenitely be hampered.
