Some Info on Gama

Hello Everybody

I have some questions about the Trax Gama Classic.
Would certainly appreciate the feedback.

In an earlier review of the Gama Classic by moderator " Samurai ", he said
that the difference between the the Gama and Gurkha are
(1) Size of Wheels
(2) Differential breather
(3) Snorkel air intake

Now it was mentioned that the diffs found on Gama are not safe in
water.
What does it exactly mean ?

I am not looking forward to cross a river or something like that, but will
it be able to make through water logged roads during monsoons. Driving
through 1.5 to 2 feet of water. Will the diffs get damaged ?

By the way, aren't the diffs of any car water tight ?

Can you guys suggest a good electrical winch ? ( Name and other
specifications please)

Sets of high power lights ?( To be installed on bullbar )

Suggestions for bullbar/ brush guards ?

Any upgradations to the alternator or/ and battery for the winch
and lights ?

Set of good off-road tyres ? ( Indian brand please )

Also the price of a Trax Gama with Air-con, PS and 4x4 ?

Thanks

Let me highlight the Important similarities and differences between Gamma and Judo

Both of them are based on 2750 mm wheel base and share the same frame and drive train.

The Gamma has a DI engine while the Judo has an IDI engine . However IDI engine is not available anymore, so no point talking about it.

All differentials have breathers. It is just a matter of how high the breather goes. In a Judo/Gurkha it goes all the way up and ends in a chamber in the engine bay.

The Breather in a Gamma ends above the chassis.

Electrical winch - not recommended. Get a hydraulic or mechanical winch . Gamma can be fitted with a PTO andd can operate both hydraulic as well as mechanical winch.

Good lights - Light force 240 Blitz. Check out my gallery to see the lights. These lights are literally bullet proof and project light a good 600 meters.

Good offroad tires - JK LT 2000 4x4

I would guess it could be driven in our flooded roads like a bolero or scorpio like MUV/SUV, but with the Gurkha/Judo you can ford much deeper water.

For you day to day use the standard set up should give you the same functionality as other SUV/MUV

Yes you are right. For shallow fording a Gamma should do just fine

Gama doesn't come with diff locks, I guess you already knew that.
There are two engine options, TD2650F (BSII) and TD2550FTI(BSIII).

TD2650F (BSII) -45kW (3200rpm) and 158Nm(2000-2200rpm)
TD2550FTI(BSIII) - 56kW (3200rpm) 195Nm(1800-2000rpm)

For off-roading, you would really want the FTI engine. But it is very difficult to get delivery, you would wait for ever.

One more hopeless combination, they don't even have an order code for this.

The only way you can get a Gama 4x4 easily, is if you order it with BSII engine and without PS & AC. If you are a city resident, you can't buy BSII, that is the catch-22.

Shallow fording: A water body that can be crossed without prior preperation.

Deep fording: Preperation such as water proofing, snorkel installation, one way valve in exhaust etc. are required before crossing the water body. This usually applies to military vehicles such as tanks and SPs.

@rrnsss: Are the breathers in the Gama mounted on the axles (like they are in most indian vehicles) or on the chassis through a rubber pipe?

There is no fixed boundary depath, it depend on the vehicle, a waterbody shallow fordable by a tank may require deep fording prep on smaller vehicle.
