Key learnings from Auto Expo 2008.

Hi,

The auto Expo 2008 is coming to close tomorrow. Was just pondering what would be the key take aways / learning points from this.

Fristly, the introduction of new cars especially Nano has demonstrated to the whole world that India can also be the technical / manufacturing hub and can also manufacture world's cheapest car w/o compromising the quality and desired safety and regulatory norms.

People who have visited can pour in their much awaited thoughts.

Well said about Nano, hats-off to RATAN TATA for his company's achievements in the recent past ( Corus, Jaguar deals ) & specially for words - A promise is a promise.
Tata's show in entirety was a real crowd-puller.
IMO, FIAT deserves 10/10 for their Cars & babes. Fiat 500 was unexpected surprise at the show.

I just hope their new cars take off in our market. It will be great to see 7-8000 GP's selling every month. It will also beautify our roads which are full of ugly cars right now .

You bet. I registered on-line almost 45 days ago and received my business pass by email. Following their subsequent instructions reached Gate #: 5 at 10:30 on 11th to exchange the printout for a pass. Got it at 12:15 and by that time was nearly tired standing in line.

If the business timings had 'so many' business visitors, I dreaded what would be the crowd of normal visitors..

I checked with one guy who was sporting a badge of 'Organiser' for directions to Taiwan stall. He gave a blank look and said that he is new. So, this showed that 'bhai-bhateejavaad' was prevalent here as well.

Delhi, that is famous for going to music concerts, plays/theatres & book launches only if free/complimentary passes are given/procured, is not at all ready for F-1.

Vijay Mallya will go bankrupt doling out freebies..

Guys, you are right, I dont think we have the capabilty of arranging these kind of shows, I paid 500 bucks to avoid the crowd and I couldnt even get close to some of the cars. Some of the stalls like TATA, Maruti didnt even have enough space to walk around. I guess they are living on a prayer when it comes to the general public timings, a stampede looked ominous or maybe a bigger mishap can happen anyday.

How about the component suppliers to car companies? Have they displayed anything in Expo? And did they discuss anything about their future associated with car manufacturers...
