I myself could not believe the above images when they showed it on TimeNow news channel on 17th January. I have been enquiring and searching for the photos and more details since then with all my collegues who are in the automobile sector. It can never be classified as a rival for Nano if the price is over 1.30 laks. News channel repeatedly showed above images with Nano images and the price was shown in full TV screen size to avoid any confusion to the viewers ! So dont worry, its 1.30 laks, not 13. More details are expected sooner !

Is the engine 16v 1.6L, as shown in one of pics? I'm ready to pay 3 times the amount, 3.9laks out of joy to Renault that too imeediately. tell them to contact me

the price doesnot match with the specifications,looks etc

doesnot look like a 1.3 lakh car to me ...

@shajufx: Fiat 500 will not be budget car. This car will being imported through CKD. That is 100% import ducity. Fiat 500 does not mean 500CC engine. Fiat 500 comes with 1.3 liter (1300 CC) multijet engine.

About bajaj: Rajiv already said it will not be competetor to Tata's Nano. It will be costlier but this car will be most fuel efficient.

The reason for this thread is not bulk mail. News was out on 17th January through a leading news channel with 4 photos. Bulk mail is only supporting the news channel. And I dont think a news channel will be announcing something based on a bulk mail ! Anyway we will find out the accuracy of the news channel and the images here. Our members have more contacts and influence to find out whats is genuine and what is not !

The idea is not anything new. Here is the news link that shows Renault's plan to launch a 1.20 lak car in India dating back to June 2007 'Renault for $3,000 car in India'
