Guys saw a Silver-grey colored Indigo CS on road today. Looked better than both INdica and Indigo. But silver-grey color was not pretty much suiting it well. I wish if Tata would have launched it directly with DICOR atleast.
And I guess tata does not face much competition with Suzuki here. Most cars in delhi i see are tata indica/indigo or cabs. Tata stands alone in the league of their own!!

Thinking of buying the diesel one for company use. Cheap/frugal and perhaps low maintenance expense are the pluses but still split in two minds due to build quality.

Went for a TD last week. Was pretty disappointed with the build quality of the car, especially the interiors. The salesman kept insisting that the CS was 1.2 litre!! Finally on my insistence he checked the manual and confirmed its indeed 1.4l!! I asked for a TD and he said
Salesman:"Saar, we do not have a car for TD, but no problem, The feeling is same as indigo!"
ME: "Ok, i'll take a TD of the indigo."

Salesman:"Sorry sir, we do not have a Indigo for TD, but
it has the same engine as indica turbo"

ME: "Ok, I'll TD that instead"
Salesman:(with a sheepish grin)"Not TD car for that also sir! We sold the last one we had""would u be interested in the palio 1.1??"

My reply to that would ban me from this forum.

Oh and btw, the dealer is Koyenko on NH 47, cochin.(The one opposite popular hyundai) Maybe they are not bothered about Tata cars since they got BMW dealership!!

I was asking him about the diesel engine itself! But still he got confused! I don't think tata has a 1.2l diesel!

Indigo CS looks kinda neat . Tata should have launched CS earlier. But anyways a great move by Tata.

Seems unlikely since MJD develops so much torque, it'll require a bigger transmission that CS's engine bay can't take. Tata's own DICOR 1.4 can develop 190 nm torque but had to be detuned to 140 nm for Indi/go/ca for this reason. Also, putting MJD in lower positioned cars would have a negative effect on the image of higher positioned new Indi/go/ca.

Very true! The boot's design has a certain flair that's completely missing in the regular Indigo. Either the ERC design team has changed or Tata must have hired a specialist European design house to create the CS rear. The Tata guy manning the CS at Auto Expo had told me that the front lights and grill are also going to be changed soon.

Took a TD of the CS a few days back. The car was on a Red Plate & was to be used as a TD car. It had just 75 km on the Odo. Things I loved on the CS:
1) Space - There's oodles of space inside the cabin. Even after pushing the front seats all the way back, there's still enough leg room left for the rear seat passengers.
2) Power steering feels quite good, so did the gear changes
3) The car didn’t feel small at all; neither did it feel like one was driving a mini truck.
4) Quite responsive - especially considering that the poor thing was being powered by a 1.2L engine.
5) Engine didn’t (almost) die after the AC was switched ON. However this engine is no drag runner also.
6) The boot space is phenomenal (clichéd now).

Didn’t like about the CS:
1) The headlights are from the Indica itself. Kills the almost perfect beauty of the front.
2) Petrol engine is also the same as that on an Indica, but the engine of the TD car which I had was almost as noisy as the Diesel Car.
3) Boot & the doors had to be closed really hard (almost had to bang them & they closed with a loud Thud). It felt like closing the doors of a 20 year old taxi.
Dealership experience: Just 1 word - PATHETIC.
Bad part - I had to wait for more than an hour for the car to be ready.
Worse Part - The TD car was so dirty that I could barely see through the windscreen & had to use a cloth from my own car to clean it. The TD car then ran out of fuel barely 20 meters after I took it for the drive, so I had no choice but to push it on to the side of the road & wait for them to come & re-fuel it. A wait for another good 30 minutes
Worst Part - After all this, I was in for a bigger shock. A request from the showroom ppl that the car be driven for s short run since they had put in only 1L of fuel. More was to follow when I sat with their staff & was taken through the financing options. I was almost coaxed to opt for Tata Finance which was ripping me off with an interest rate of 14.5%. No option of ICICI & no payout if I opted for HDFC. Now how horrible can that be. (Any one with a similar experience reg. financing, please share your experience & the final outcome of the same)
Final Verdict - Buy this car if:
1) You are looking to seat 5 ppl in relative comfort
2) Do frequent highway driving & have moderate to light luggage to carry
3) Want a car which is relatively loaded in its price bracket. The so called top end model just lacks Power Windows & Central Locking. However if you buy a Swift LXi (which is 20K more expensive on-road in Mumbai than the CS), you will not even get a taco.
4) Prepare yourself to deal with the most lousy & unfriendly dealerships with whom you will have to do a follow-up at all times. I am still chasing them, instead of the other way around. On the other hand both Hyundai & Maruti are chasing me with their offerings. What an irony!!!

Thanks for the review Maverick. I think Tata might bring in some minor changes in the front headlight knowing that New Indigo is just around the corner. Great work by Tata for producing CS.. Ex showroom price for GLE : 3.69 l and GLS : 3.88 l is tempting for any person buying a hatchback!
