I seriously think that Maruti Suzuki can sell the 800 and the Omni for about Rs.100,000 like the Nano.
I mean if you see the amount of kit offered with both cars, it's pretty similar. And on top of that Nano's engine is smaller but more sophisticated than the 796cc in the Marutis.

Road space goes down

2- Patience goes down
Road Rage goes up

3- Mother Nature loses in all repects

So therefore i conclude, we can say goodbye to civilised life..
See the road rage present today by reading the thread
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/street...ople-lost.html
You can only imagine what will happen then, probably roads filled with mini riots.
I shudder just at the thought of it.
I have seen several threads on which overpopulation of roads, road rage, resource wastage etc are discussed. Can we not see the other, brighter side of the picture?
Think about this.
More small cars, mean more bikes off the road ?
More cars may mean cheaper auto spare parts, auto servicing, denting , paintings etc?
More cars mean more pressure on govt and subsequently better roads?
More cars mean cars come from being 'luxury' items to common items, so say tax exemptions?
Govt afraid to increase taxes on fuels due to more common people owning cars?

Guys think about this side too, we certianly have a lot to celebrate on people being mobile

I heard that Maruti is gonna slash the price of the M800 to 1.5 lakhs when the NANO hits the road. Their sales pitch will be, for 0.5 lakhs more, get 200cc more and a metal car.

Our govt will only increase tax so that they get more income and this will save them from bothering about providing better infrastructure too.

But how will they be able to find out who owns what? Even if they find out, people will buy in their wife's name or mother's name or even kid's name!

Hyundai Motor plans mini car in India by 2011

  • South Korea's Hyundai Motor Co. is planning to produce a low-cost mini car in India by 2011 to compete with locally produced vehicles such as Tata's new Nano.
  • The low-cost, fuel-efficient mini car models will be priced between 3.5 million Korean won (US$3,700; euro2,500) and 5 million won.

Though MUL denies a price cut on M800, I am sure that they will do it once Nano hits the road.
The biggest grudge against MUL is that they cut prices occasionally. The existing customers feel cheated.
Ofcourse, it is a well-known fact that MUL has a huge profit margin on M800 (AFAIK, they make more than Rs. 20,000 profit on every piece). Since they have been running the production equipments for so long, their depreciation costs are negligible

hey hyundai have to go a long way to launch such a car to compete with nano, they dont have any existing models to compete.why are every one after nano,is it the end of all choices we got.can understand why auto rickshaw manufacturers like bajaj have plunged in as nano threat is mainly for the ricks than m-800.its never a threat to hyundai in any case.

Rather then making the infrastructure better, they will want to take the easy way out. If anyone & everyone is allowed to buy a Nano, then it will take double the time to reach your destination what it does today & many people will keep the Nano as a 3/4/5/6th vehicle since it costs relatively less, they might just end up buying one, which will lead to loads of traffic congestion.

Where are the roads of these cars? As it is our roads are full, if we go down another 3 years from now, then god help us as our politicians and beauracrats will do nothing.
