SCOOP! Tata making Airbags/ABS standard across the model range, at nominal price!

A little birdie has come with some great news.
The Tata range of passenger cars will shortly come out with ABS and Airbags standard across the power range. Price increase is expected to be nominal(economies of scale working here?)
Can't disclose the source, but the source is pretty reliable as far as Tata has been concerned, and has brought in scoops previously also.

That is great news (if correct). So will we have others following suit? Lets wait and watch - the action begins now !

The trend of having higher end models with these features could end. So now we will have manufacturers trying to give us more better (hopefully) features in the higher end models.

I hope that future buyers of Safari LX and EX can expect ABS and AIRBAGS as optional.

What does the power range include?

ABS and Airbags standard is just what we need. An awesome move by Tata.

Thats a great move by Tata. At the kind of speed that we are witnessing on the new high speed highways its high time that manufacturers give importance to the all round safety features of cars in every segment.

Kudos to Tata yet again(PS: ie. if the news is true)

Great news! Looks like Tata have caught Maruti napping.

Hopefully, Tata will motivate their zombie Italian partners towards this too.

ITs across the entire range, and ABS/Airbags will be available after a nominal price increase.
My guess is that you will be able to get an indica DLS with abs and airbags by paying 15000 extra.

well, the first mover to offer it as a standard will gain ground. However, we (as petrol heads) might feel the need for ABS and Airbags, however, what about the buying public? if the price can be knocked off by 15K, and cost savings from accidential deployment, would aam junta want it?

Its a great step by Tata in terms of taking responsibility... if only they now bring out a 220bhp petrol engine

You cant force safety on aam junta, but the point is that if a member of this aam junta wants it HE CAN get it for a nominal price.

It'll be a turning point for raising in safety standards in Indian automobiles. At 15k for both, I would take them without battling an eye-lid.

Way to go, Tata !

For me its hard to belive that it could be done at such a small cost. But obviously I am not expert so lets see what happens

Although Indica v2 is available with ABS and Airbags but they are charging premium of about 60 k for that so may be Volume game can bring down cost

I think this is probably a benchmark for the Indian automotive society, several other companies will follow suit to compete with TATA and eventually its going to be a requirement by the government. About time this happened.

Wow, that is a great move by TATA. I have never seen them as aggressive as they are today.

Kudos to them.

At least making ABS standard in all models and across all ranges will be a great move.
By good marketing and advertising, even the general public (most of whom do not even know what ABS stands for or what it does) can be made aware of the importance of these feautures and that the nominal increase in price is worth it (if its going to be NOMINAL....LOL!)
