Another great initiative by Tata Motors if true. This is the sort of leadership we need from leaders in the auto industry and not excuses.

Regarding aam junta in my experience people will compromise if necessary on everything but safety, so it its a reasonably priced option on some models I am sure people would go for it. The only thing is they have to made aware of it, but abs and airbags are perhaps self explanatory.

If true (hope it is), then this is an awesome initiative by Tata, leading to saving lives of not only those driving Tata cars, but of the competition also.

I pray that this should be true. If this is done at an attractive price, I think the other companies will also start thinking on the same lines and one day we may see this across all models without govt. having to make it compulsory..

Hope this news is true! It will revolutionize safety standards on Indian passenger cars!

Other Car makers have to follow suit else will be dumped by prospective buyers.

Kudos to TATA. If this news is true and if they are offering this at a nominal price increase, then they have to be hailed as responsible corporate citizens. They surely will be doing their bit towards increasing safety of Indian people. I wish they carry this trend further and achieve more success.

Actually,Fiat had launched a palio version with ABS and Airbags way before in the year2000.It was called the fiat palio 1.6gtx SP..the ABS and the airbags were a part of the safety package(SP).But nobody cared about safety features then..only mileage...so Fiat was actually the first small car maker to get abs and airbags in our country.

ABS + Airbags should be made mandatory on all cars and across all segments. They are life saving stuff. Every life on road is worth saving.

It's not good at all to see higher end models to have airbags and ABS and lower end models not having them. Once again if the news is true, Kudos to Tata. Every single day my respect for this company keeps on increasing.

Brilliant move by TATA.
I am pretty sure the entire range would not include the Nano.
unless provided optional.

Recently, we heard that Tata has brought a ABS/Airbags testing cum manufacturing facility into the country. So, this is quite expected.

Giving special insurance benefits for cars with ABS/Airbags would do a lot with the public accepting it.

A welcome move by Tata ! The highlight of this is that the safety features are provided as 'standard' features as opposed to 'optional' feature. The day this becomes reality, other car manufacturers will have to follow suit. Laudable effort by Tata !

I doubt this though. This requires lot of changes to existing breaking and steering systems & dash. May cost at least 50K against the nominal ~15K which Tata is planning to.

Kudos to Tata if this is true.

Somehow I'm sceptical about the price though - I can understand ABS in 15k but ABS & Airbags at that price? Good for the public if they can.
