Good Going TATA

TATA is really making its presence felt. Looks like they are not going to rock in India alone but in the International scene aswell.

There was a news item in Economic Times few days ago that Bosch intends to bring down the prices of ABS to 5k levels through its newly acquired company Kalyani Brakes.

With a similar pricing approach to airbags, 20k for ABS+Airbags looks distinctly possible.

A very good move by Tata. The only small diesel car coming with Airbags is the Tata Indica. Its high time the ideology is removed of diesel cars need no features.

Does this mean an across board price hike and the ABS + airbag as standard feature on all cars / variants; or does this mean that ABS + airbags are available as "standard extra" on demand??

PS:- Will there be a "seat belt not fastened" warning indicator?

Kudos to Tata if they pull this one through at an economical rate...my respect for the company will double !
They have been trendsetters in terms of VFM and now bringing safety into every Indian car owner reach is truly commendable. It will force other manufacturers to follow suit ... Have always hoped one day ABS + Airbags become standard across all segments.

Great move! Better than making it standard, will like to see at the end of a whole year how many of the buying public have actually opted for these.

You are talking about car insurance or life insurance ? ABS and airbags are meant for passenger safety and not car safety.

ABS is meant for both. You brake better, saving your life, car occupants life, pedestrians life and may possibly avoid hitting another object. Without ABS, car might hit another object or passenger resulting in collision and third party claims. Hence ABS reduces the payment for insurance company.

Similarly, airbags protects the car driver and passenger in case of a collision. In case, someone has availed the personal accident option in the insurance policy, there is a lesser chance of a accident claim from a car occupant with airbag.

ABS, Airbags, security system have large and standard discounts in US.

I knew the life insurance part of it. Thanks for enlightening on car insurance part of it. Have not heard of any discounts from any insurance provider in India. May be this move from TATA will start the trend.

Correct me if i am wrong. The safety features will not have insurance cover, ie, if the air bags deploy after an accident, we will have to pay for that and the insurance will not cover that, correct?
