Yes, Skoda uses fully synthetic oil and hence the higher oil costs.

Lol..dont take the literal meaning re. He just wants to say that if the Octavia comes in the NHC or the Verna price range, than the after sales service (including the spares cost) should be reasonable.
And AFAIK the authorised service center do not use synthetic oil, but use mineral oil instead.

Kolkata dealer mentions these about the Ambiente Petrol 1.8 TPi:

All existing Rider TPi features + Alloys, Spoiler, ABS and a reduction of 1L in ex-showroom price. So it comes to 11.06 OTR here.

In comparison, Rider TPi is 11.7 OTR here, considering free insurance. Insurance is not free on Ambiente.

In comparison, the Civic S MT is ~ 12 OTR (pre-discount, if any)

I asked him, didn't the Rider TPi come with ABS? Thats what the site says - TPi has ABS, TDi does not. He vehemently denied. Says no ABS on current Rider TPi !

He did not have TDi prices.

I agree. most are over priced, but i hope that the jetta isnt priced that high.
I heard from someone at the auto show that jetta would be around 8 lakhs..

Your car runs smoother, the NVH(Noise Vibration Harshness) is lesser, the FE might increase slightly. Engine life can also increase.

1.8TPI Rider already comes with ABS.
So I think, just forget about this dealer and whatever he is saying...

And the 1.8TPI Rider which my friend bought...the dealer gave him spoiler + Alloys free....

So what's the news guys?

Seems only the price of the TPi has been reduced by 1L.

As per Kolkata price list (ex-showroom)

Rider TDi - 11.42 ; Ambiente TDi - 11.05
Reduction of 37K. Rider has insurance free I heard. So essentially OTR remains the same for the TDi

Rider TPi - 11.21 ; Ambiente TPi - 10.24
Nice price cut here.

Called up TAFE access, bangalore. According to them,
difference between ambiente and rider is

- Arm rest in rider is moved to back seat in ambient
- rubber padding on the doors (dont know what is it) is removed from ambiente
- ABS added in ambiente.
- No alloys, spoiler

price for ambient is 12.16 OTR, rider is 13.45 OTR.
RS is availabe on demand at 15.94 OTR.
Dont know why there is almost 4 lakhs difference between RS and Ambiente.
Also Ambiente has ABS (which rider doesn't have) and it costs 1.3L lesser than Rider!
