Well if they actually plan to push Octavia down to almost NHC, Verna CRdi levels then shouldn't they first reduce their spares prices? A NHC owner may pay Rs.500 for a oil change while a Octy owner would be paying Rs.5000? In that segment, such service and spares cost would be a death blow to the Octavia.

This was looking quite certain since the time skoda launched the laura at a wrong price and retaining the octavia parallel. Also they have lauched the fabia again at a wrong price.......dont know which segment it would be pushed into But if this comes true it would be a blast into the c segment, i think all the octavia lovers are waiting for this moment since long

If new Octavia replaces the old Octavia, then the new new Octavia is cheaper than the Lola (which is an older generation Octavia). Confusion?
Hey, hey, What did you just write Vasudeva?

Octavia Ambiente.

Saw an add in TOI Pune (:: The Times of India ePaper :: city = Pune, Page 24). Price: 9.90L

I was not able to discern the features that are available in Ambiente.

I think Vasudeva's pressing question should be put to Skoda asap. Let them ponder.

I was about to mention about the add that appeared in todays Pune edition of the TOI..as per the add the Ambiente, Elegance, and the L&K versions are very much under production, it seems. But with the host of features mentioned in the add, the price of the L&K version would still be in the range of 13+lacs OTR whereas the add states the range to be starting from 9,90,705/- So i think Skoda has brought the Ambiente version in the Rider price range by discontinuing the Rider.
So expect it to go above 10lacs on road, not much of a difference in prices though. Therefore IMO not really a new variant.

So they reduced the base model price by 1.5 lakhs. Octy resale will be affected by this price reduction. Before announcing the new price, 2002 model Octy available for only 4.75 lakhs in the second hand market. Now it will be available under 4 lakhs!

I am saying that with the expected `new generation' Octavia, there would be 3 Octavias floating around-the oldest Octavia, the old Lola, and the new Octavia, say Gola. How will they price the Gola. If below the Lola to replace the Octavia, then the new generation Gola will be priced lower than the old Lola. Then why should anyone buy the Lola. Perhaps Gola will replace the Lola.

By the way, there was a 1998 movie Ronin with De Niro. You can see the oldest Octavia in that if you keep your eyes peeled. Will the old Octavia will be around as long as the 800.

This is getting too confusing. For discussion purpose, we can call the current Octavia as Ola, the Laura as Lola and the upcoming one as Gola.
