Anyone able to get a sneak preview in Chennai ? Think you can arrange one (if so PM please) ;-)

Any idea what colors are being launched ? Looks like there's
* black & red (from posts above as well as earlier photos),
* gold (from Ram),
* blue (from youtube video),
* white (heard from dealers - speculation based on existing colors in swift),
* silver (photos on Indiabike blog).

Here's an extract from an article in the Economic Times dated 19th March 08. Gives some indication (speculation?) of pricing:

Maruti Suzuki is set to launch the Swift DZire, the sedan version of Swift, on March 26 in petrol and diesel options. The car, that replaces the company's Esteem model, will compete primarily with the Mahindra Logan and Tata Indigo. The new model is likely to be priced aggressively and it is estimated that the base petrol version (with power steering, air conditioning but no stereo) could sport an ex-showroom price of around Rs 4.5 lakh, while the diesel model will be around Rs 5.2 lakh. Maruti is offering 1.3-litre engines on both petrol and diesel versions. (ET-19/3)

The pricing mentioned in the article doesn't seem very feasible to me, considering that the Swift hatch costs roughly this much.

Looks like speculation indeed. Different newspapers are quoting different price ranges.

Most newspapers are sticking to the phrase - "Sources have indicated that the pricing will be".

Which means - no one knows exactly. I have a feeling the final price is going to be much more than that.

I dont believe in such a thing as "a too crowded market" as long as there is demand for the cars. If you say Indian car market is crowded, what would you say about the US market.
Well, what you said is correct but, our world doesnt revolve around US market. It doesnt take much for Maruti to covert an already good chassis into a sedan.
