^ exactly my point. If you look at picture #3 (The silver one), and hold your left hand up on the screen so as to hide everything left of the A-Pillar, it actually looks nice. And as soon as you remove your hand, and look at it again... GASP! The horror of it!!!

I have mixed feelings towards this car. Viewing individual areas of the car seem to give an impression that nothing is all that bad as I thought, but put all those pieces together and it doesnt look appealing. Maybe, I need to restrict my looks to one area at a time.

Come on! I have checked and rechecked many times. The car looks alright!... I am not expert in design engineering , but I am sure the car is not an eyesore. It is definitely not an ambassador! Don't expect Maruti to surprise you every single time. The design will do justice for the money you pay!!

Regarding the design, it is just that we are used to the cute and compact look of the Swift. Now, when a bloated version comes out, it will take us a while before we start liking it.

I've seen this car in flesh and it looks just okay for my eyes. Definitely not a contest winner. I would rate it 2.5 out of 5 in design.

This is not a scenario which is exclusive to this one specific car. Has happened to almost every car which was launched as a hatch first, then a boot was added later and made into a sedan. Indica is an example which comes to mind in our country. Opel Corsa, Ford Fiesta (international version of our Ikon), FiAT Palio (hope nobody takes this as a personal attack), Ford Escort, some versions of Corolla, Honda Jazz (the NHC we all know) are some cars which I can count quickly from the international scene.

OK, with newer pictures emerging, I had a look at the ones already posted in here. I have to change my view regarding the side profile. I really had to like it to actually like it. But then, I liked the side profile .

Yes, kudos to Suzuki for being so proactive in providing newer generation cars to India. I am sure this one is going to be a hit.

But, I still am of the opinion that Swift was designed with a view of it being a hatchback. I certainly would have liked Suzuki to bring in the SX4 hatchback which is being sold in Europe. That one looks pretty balanced to my eyes.

IMO, the Accent is not able to liberate as much interior space as the exteriors suggest it would. Also the low seating makes ingress and egress slightly more effort-involving.

With the Dezire, i cannot comment on these points for now, but Ram says they have managed to improve the rear seat comfort which was the major setback for the Swift. Also, the higher seating position would also help ingress and egress.

The stork tells me that the Dezire would not be available in Diesel for quite some time to come as Maruti is not able to satiate the demand for diesels for the the Swift itself.
That is a dampener as also the fact that release is taking forever.Hope i get to see the car before i die..

I also happened to see SX4 hatchbacks in Japan. It looks pretty balanced. With all the expensive plastics (probably Japan exclusive) , It is very impressive. How ever, there aren’t many SX4s on Japan roads. I see lots of swift and Swift sports though!

The pictures do look good for me. In fact, I have put my plans for SX4 ZXi on hold.

In my opinion, they are just gonna spoil the gorgeous image the SWIFT has in the market by introducing this sedan. They should have at least changed the flow of lines...'mean along the side windows to have a broader look and also the tail lamp part shud be a lil smaller at the top...the lamps shud have tapered a bit to the top or the sides from the bottom. This reminds me of the crossover between Amby and Indigo by DC giving an 'Ambigo-s' look - as reported in some motor magazine. Well, of they are right away gonna introduce a diesel model...it will be a hit for sure

Yes diesel and petrol would be launched simultaneously.Thats the information i got as of now.But its anybodies guess regarding the waiting period of the diesels.I think they want to reduce the waiting period or atleast maintain it at the current rate with the opening of the manasar plant. That would happen soon.
