What more damage can Maruti-Suzuki do?.The SX4 is their only saving grace.I guess after decades of ruining the Indian automotive scene after HM, remorse took over. The SX4 is designed by FIAT. I don't want to say more.

Still hate the shape, the front and rear end are miles apart from an integrated look!

If we notice SX4 it has also got same two reflectors at the end infact i guess the same rear bumper of SX$ has been incorporated in the dezire. May be because of sharing components.

Seems like it's got the Swift's wheelbase, and the rear windows look the same. The rear would retain the claustrophobic atmosphere of the Swift.

Dunno if it's already been posted here, but here's the official site:
Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire.

Edit: From the trailer on the website, following seem to be the features
- Only one engine choice (petrol for now)
- Integrated stereo like SX4 (topend probably)
- Brighter interiors, seat covers etc
- Front grille is slightly different

Maruti Suzuki unveils new sedan 'Swift DZiRE'

Link :

The Hindu News Update Service

Here's the text :

New Delhi (PTI): Market leader Maruti Suzuki on Tuesday unveiled a new sedan, Swift DZiRE, to be launched on March 29 priced below the company's existing car SX4.
"The image of a hatchback and styling of Swift is carried forward to the Sedan. The new car will be available in both petrol and diesel variants," Maruti Suzuki India Ltd Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales) Mayank Pareek told reporters here.
On the pricing of the new car, Pareek declined to share details. However according to the company sources, the petrol variant is expected to be priced between Rs 4.75 to Rs 5 lakh, while the diesel variant would be available for above Rs 5.5 lakh.
The company is also expanding the capacity of its plant in Manesar to three lakh units per annum by 2010, up from the existing about 1.4 lakh units in an year.

Pricing looks good. Its around 75K more than the hatchback. But it would have been better if it was a 25K lesser. Still a VDi for 6.5-6.75 OTR makes it great value.

Diesel Dizire is going to sell like hot cakes - Other diesel cars need to watch out for this.

Dzire ZDI should not be priced above 7.25 l on road. Anything beyond that will be kinda expensive!

Petrol Dzire Zxi at 5L ex-showroom would be a steal given that Swift Zxi is about 5.14L ex-showroom

Take the prices with a pinch of salt is what I'm thinking. Like someone else said, 50K above corresponding Swift model seems a good benchmark.

However, I'm left wondering if people will think of upgrading to a sedan at same price instead of a hatchback, i.e. if the features in corresponding models are all the same,

Go for Dzire LXI instead of Swift Vxi
Go for Dzire Vxi instead of Swift Zxi
or stretch the budget that extra bit to take Dzire in any case when compared to the hatch Swift.

Will be interesting to watch is Dzire cannibalizes Swift sale.
