What Car March Issue has mentioned tentive pricing of around 50K more than the corresponding Swift model. Which could translate to around 5.6/5.7ish for the ZXi. That's a loaded car for almost 1L less than the base SX4.

In this price band, 75K - 1L is significant money for most customers.

If I do "apples" to "apples" comparison, one would be looking at Dzire Zxi Vs Sx4 Zxi with a price difference of at least 1.5L. That kind of difference is good enough to get you the nano in another couple of months

Like I've reiterated earlier, except for bigger size, better space, more powerful engine, what does Sx4 Zxi offer that Dzire Zxi doesn't ? Forget the looks (very subjective) and look at utility/VFM.

After all that's (VFM) the mantra of Sx4 Zxi too, right ? So will be the case with Dzire Zxi.

I rest my case.

this car is going be too VFM to resist.. Maruti name.. Swift Engine... 30 kg diff along with a boot and above all at the prices we have heard... i know a few people who want cars like that but dont want the logan or TATA and the City is outside their budget. The SX4 is the only other option but at times i feel a small person can get lost inside the SX4.

Can ram enlighten us as to whether it is eligible for the excise benefits as far as length is concerned? That would determine its pricing vis-a-vis the indigo CS

Guys, did anyone dowload their screensaver, I just did and it seems they even have the SX4 style steering wheel with the volume controls on the steering itself. This is looking good, they are out to create their own niche.

what will happen to Swift, will they discontinue it, because dzire will be at the price of swift or marginal difference.

Nope, people who want a hatch which is easy to drive in traffic and requires less space to park with the same features as a sedan will continue to buy swift.

I guess that the dzire will eat a lot of market share of swift itself along with other cars like the indigo. The market is getting too crowded now with the gap between sedans and hatches narrowing

As long as it is Maruti that is selling, they really dont care. One car's target deficit will be made up in another. It gives the buyer more choice and increases their image and ofcourse share value.

I dont believe in such a thing as "a too crowded market" as long as there is demand for the cars. If you say Indian car market is crowded, what would you say about the US market.
