A city without a boot and without the ivtec engine and without the looks. But yeah its worth the price I'd say :)

magic seats (?)
Finally he told me the price was 6.5 L!! (not sure abt on road etc), Elito |
Great stuff Elito. Appreciate your patience since it has provided us some valuable inputs.
Is this the new 1.2L ivtec that was reported in ACI sometime back?
Magic seats refer to the innumerable seat configurations that they give as one of the USPs for Jazz / Fit.
When he told you the pricing did you react in any sort of manner, since he would have noted that down as part of his research f/b. So for everyones' sake, I hope you showed him a shocked expression :-)
'If' its 6.5 ex showroom then it would be close to 8 on road (Bangalore). ANHC EMT is 9.1 on road (Bangalore), dont know if that makes any sense at all ?:Frustrati

After seeing the specs i said i would not pay more than 7L on road for a fully equipped Jazz. However when he showed me the specs..i said for 1.2 engine hatch 6-6.5 would be tops as i was disappointed with the 1.2 engine.
He then disclosed the price to me

Going by the prices in singapore, malaysia and thailand the jazz is priced more than the city but in philipines it is priced around 20000 less than the city, here i am talking about the 1.5 litre engine with the automatic transmission.Looking at the indianmarket scenario i hope honda would price it atleast 50000 less than the anhc.

Well in those markets even Toyota Yaris hatchback is more expensive than the sedan. I guess we would most probably get the 1.2 petrol for the Jazz. It depends if Honda does offer the 1.3 VTEC atleast. I expect base version price to be OTR 6.5 lacs to 7.5 lacs for top end.
P.S. : the New Honda city is more expensive than the Corolla Altis in SIngapore.
Honda in india is a premium brand name and going by that notion, all Honda vehicles in india are over priced!
:deadhorse
hey guys, any confirmed date as to when Honda is to launch the Jazz?

There s no confirmed time of launch yet. Honda had planned for May- June '09 launch. But cos of recession it
might be delayed. With i20 launch and GP launch in few months im sure they would like to launch it by their targetted time.
According to inside news it will be launched on Apr 09. Yes - it will be on 7 - 8 lac range - Grrrr

Interestinginformation Karan. And people buys it over Altis? I'll be damned! Or maybe they are mainly looking at the FE.
Honda fit / jazz if priced at around 6.5 -7.5 lacs OTR will be good.
Cheers,
AC

Here s the info:-(Guna , no idea about the versions, just read it on the net):-

It is probably not right to compare the City with the Corolla. But since Honda has priced its entry-level sedan above Toyota's best-selling model, it is asking for the comparison.
Honda agent Kah Motor explains that the City is priced the way it is because of its relatively high open-market value (roughly its cost price) of $19,700. The Corolla has an OMV of around $16,700.

Sorry for going Off topic!
The top end City there is loaded.
Fog lamps, the awesome Y shape alloys in 16", indicators on ORVMs, an antenna on the roof, exhaust pipe finisher, rear AC vents, 120PS of power, discs all around, ACC, a CD player with MP3/WMA capabilities, security alarm (in addition to the normal central locking) and two keys with remote transmitters.
This costs 17,56,443.06 INR for the MT and 18,27,911.35 INR for the AT.
The cheapest variant costs 14,74,156.14 INR (MT, 08 model). This variant still has 15" alloys, CD player but not "Advanced Audio", tilt only steering compared to full adjustable in the LX variant, discs all around.
Now the Altis.
The cheapest variant has a 1.6L engine with 110PS. The Altis in Singapore has Brake Assist which we don't get. They only come in AT.
1.6L - 17,46,968.41 INR
1.8L - 20,54,053.98 INR
The website doesn't go into detail on the features, so I can only assume Toyota provides everything except BA here.
So what's the point of this post? Well, yes, the most expensive City costs more than the cheapest Altis in Singapore.
Remember that these prices are ex-showroom. They have extremely high road tax which you cannot pay for lifetime (11,064.80 INR every six months for the City). Getting a number plate is an expensive proposition, with plate costs sometimes more than the cost of the car itself thanks to auctioning every number with limited issues each year. And they are time limited. 5 years and you have to get a new plate and probably a new car, thanks to the extreme emissions requirements.
So who's getting ripped off more eh? :D
