The cash discount must from the dealer and only the 20K Jewellery is from Ford.

if u negotiate further they will give more than 60k for the old model.IMO, if u r not buying the sports versionof new model, then the old model with more discount is also a good deal. becuse they have to clear the stock and there is not much difference between two models.

Sxi or S

while i still struggle to choose between fiesta & new City (since latter is still not available in flesh), i was beginning to feel happy that atleast i have the Fiesta version sorted out. But then i thought i will check once with the folks here. If i choose Fiesta (over City) it will be Sxi & not S because of following reasons:
1) back seat comfort is better in SXi due to presence of arm rest and adjustable head rest.
2) leather interiors.

i guess i will miss following in SXi:
1) alloys
2) spoiler
3) sport pedal.
4) body kit

So i guess i'm choosing back seat comfort and plush feel of leather interiors over exterior looks due to alloy and spoiler.

i also believe engine/suspension etc are same for Sxi & S.

Have i got it right?
any views/comments?

Music system of SXi

another thing i wanted to confirm with people here wrt audio system in 1.6Sxi:
1) it plays Mp3 Cds
2) the aux-in allows one to connect i-pod/MP3 player easily.

right?

The suspension for the S is different from the Sxi. I guess Ford has projected both the cars to different segment - Wanna drive, pick the S; Else the Sxi.

Sport pedals, alloys, skirtings etc can be added later too. But I guess the OEM stuff on the 1.6S look gorgeous!

Are you 100% sure about this? The latest what I got was 30K cash discount from Talera Ford + 8K worth of accessories free as corporate discount

Can you double check on this?

You can always get leather seat covers on the 1.6S if thats the only thing which is bothering you. The Engine is the same, But the suspension is different in the S, It's more stiff. It handles really well at high speeds. you have already pointed out most of the differences, One more difference is the 15 Inch wheels & Bigger tyres.

Other than this there is not much to differentiate between the SXI & the S.

Cant comment on the rear seat comfort, I've never tried sitting there

Does a Fiesta drive as well as a Mondeo or Focus, i.e., does it deliver a similar driving satisfaction in terms of steering, handling, and braking?

1. Yes
2. Yes . You would need an interconnect to hook up the iPod/MP3 player output to the Aux-in jack.

well i dont know about Mondeo, but I've driven Focus back in US and all I can say is Focus is miles ahead of Fiesta in terms of drivability (I've TD fiesta many times). But again I was driving US version Focus so really can't compare with indian Fiesta

Dude you really cant compare the Mondeo (UK/US version) to a Focus(UK version) to a Fiesta India version.
If I remember correctly, the Focus sedan in US is a sloppy dying-engine kinda. It makes all sorts of noise and is very bad to drive(I had driven a rental car which had run only 1600miles at that time). That compare to the Mondeo in UK, yes the Mondeo is a much bigger one and interms of Indian version too, it is good. But buddy, the Fiesta in India is way ahead in ages, it has got everything that one can ask for.
(In UK, the Fiesta is a cute hatch).

well from the spec sheet on ford india site
Ford - Fiesta Specification Data
the sxi and s both seem to have the exact same suspension. If its just tuned to be more stiffer, then why not get the sxi and get the suspension setup like the s. Most of us might add our own styled alloys and fat rubber anyway, so the S alloys don't matter
