I have come across this news in yahoo portal

General Motors is likely to come out with a few more variants or aggressively upgrade features in its flagship multi utility vehicle (MUV) Chevrolet Tavera.

The move is to retain its competitiveness in the MUV segment, where Toyota Innova, Scorpio, Sumo and Safari are crossing swords for a major market share. In addition, by giving facelift to Tavera, the company is eyeing more customers.

But before that GM should improve their dealer network and service.

There arent too many threads on Tavera but its very widely used as a taxi. wanted to post something that i observed about a tavera.

I was travelling on ring road from Rajghat towards Pragati maidan on flyover near ITO. There is a small dent in the road which makes a car jump. A tavera was travelling in front of me and when it passed over the dent, it jumped and something @ bottom hit the road. it broke something and tilted towards 1 side. The driver immediately pulled over.

So it seems that tavera doesnt have enough ground clearance or is suspectible to damage when it goes over bumps/dents at high speeds.

Oh dear .. the police use Tavera as so called 'Interceptor vehicles' in Ahmedabad. Reading LLL's post, what if this happens whilst on a pursuit ?

I just hope the next gen taveras dont smoke as much as the current crap does. Sumo and tavera are by far the most smoking MUVs atleast in Delhi on my route (MG Road/Airport).

Give how many facelifts they want. They better give it a CRDi engine. The Innova, Safari, Scorpio and now the Sumo too has CRDi under the hood.

the biggest clients for tavera in kerela is the police highway patrols-thaks to the stopped qualis.it was good to drive a tavera all the way from trivandrum to ooty a couple of years back, gave a good fuel efficiency too.i had a santro at that time and both had similar charecters and i was comfortable with her.
ram

the tavera doesnt have enough ground cleareance and i have experienced it when i went for a safari tour to Nagorhole National Park . The vehicle struggled to go through the jungle roads while the scorpio and qualis managed to ride with ease.
Another big problem we had was , after the jungle trip , 2 weeks later the engine got blown out and it costed Rs60000 to repair the vehicle..
