I didn't bring Scorpio into comparison because in my purely personal view, it wouldn't be considered in the same league as the other "big boys" in terms of sheer size and road presence. I've skipped Tucson also for the same reason.

Scorpio and Tucson fans kindly excuse though I would certainly agree that both are good compact vehicles in their own ways but would not make it to my shopping list if size and road presence is one of the criteria.

Thailand ad for the fortuner. Don't know the translation though, but the video is self explanatory.

Yesterday I saw two of them at the yard in Nippon Toyota. Immediately called the sales guy, his reply was they haven't yet received the vehicle yet.

I believe that most of us by this time now the fact that its nothing but the pickup Hilux + cabin.
Why should this fact come as a surprise/disappointment? Its a known fact that Toyota is leveraging IMV platform for 3 classes of vehicles - MPV (Innova), Pick-up truck (Hilux) and SUV (Fortuner) - isn't it?

In fact, if you add mid- and rear-cabins to single cabin hilux, it becomes a fortuner; you add rear-cabin to double-cabin hilux, it becomes a fortuner; or for that matter, remove all the cabins of an Innova, beat the metal into new shape, and no marks for guessing what will you get

Oh BTW, exteme and professional mods are capable of converting almost dead cars into monster trucks, this was still an alive and kicking pickup truck in the video before it went under the hammer

The highly anticipated SUV – Fortuner according to Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director(Marketing) Toyota Kirloskar Motors, will be launched on the 24th next month. There have been plenty of speculations about its price, but we expect it to be priced in the Rs 18 lakh – 19 lakh bracket.
The Indian Toyota Fortuner will be powered by a 3.0-Liter Common Rail Diesel engine (163hp, 35kgm), that drives all four wheels using a full-time four wheel drive system. A 2.7-liter VVT-i petrol engine might also be available.

No wonder, people who have seen it abroad (including me) are waiting for it for years to come. Those who can afford have already booked. Others (like me) are waiting for their savings to increase or prices to fall (no offence to others, it was about me)

Yeah but 19 -20 seems little too high, I was expecting around 15-16 lakh.
