It is too early to judge that. The product needs to stand a full life cycle of abuse before coming out triumphant. Qualis did that. 2-3 yr old commercially abused cars displayed the ability to start every morning without any clatter or whine, run as if it has been just out of the showroom. Although a few rattles did develop but nothing substantial.
The quality that you are talking about is the initial look and feel, but I recall having seen a qualis in its first "look and feel" campaign. It was nothing sort of great. None of the car, actually visually appealed, interior or exterior. But what stood out is the way the car was manufactured. The panel gaps, the feel of the steering wheel the plastics on the dashboard, under the hood. In contrast the homegrown competitors looked like displaying china sourced electronic product feel of the time.
Infact the "touch and try" campaign was a brilliant concept as just the "touch" told you this was a logical evolution from something we had only seen earlier in the DCM DYNA.
